Does anyone know the gear ratio for a 1980 scout w/ dana 44s, a 345v8, Torqueflight 727 auto, and dana 300 "texas" transfer case. I would think they would all be the same with this set up Thanks in advance.

2.72, 3.31, 3.54, 3.73, 4.09, could be any of these

look for the diff tag, or spin the drive shaft count wheel revs.

You could pull the diff cover and find the ratio stamped on the ring gear. You could also count the teeth and do a little dividing.

My 1980 with 196/T19/D300 came with 3.73s but my 1980 with 345/727/D20 came with 2.72s. They were doing everything they could to keep fuel milage up by that time (trying to keep the light line alive a little longer) so it's likely to have shit for gears if it's still stock.

 I'm sure he knows how to determne what the gear ratio is when he's not just poking for a quick answere.

I think somone swapped those in.

I'm 99% sure that 3:31's weren't a factory avaliable gear ratio at by 1980... they stopped offering them around '74ish... and went to 3.54's

but I could be mistaken, it is IH after all :D

so you think 3.54 is an option!!! I sure hope so, i'm gonna hate regearing 2.72s that's for sure.

STOCK gears? common ~ go with 5.89s or something!
