My Trail rigs are a 1995 D90 and a 1996 D110. I tow either one with my 2001 Ford F350 Crew on a flatbed trailer. No, I don't trailer because I can't drive the rovers on the road, but I trailer in case I break or someone else on the run breaks and doesn't have the parts. I've had to use it more for other people than for myself!! :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I started off using my 99 Tacoma as my wheeling vehicle. I started finding out that I like the rocks more than the other stuff so I decided to pick up a cheap trail vehicle. I went with an 86 Samurai that has become my trail rig and occasional driver. The Tacoma has now become a poser vehicle which doesn't see any off-roading now.

Best info on the D110 is that it was primarily '96. Could be part '97 though since it is registered as a '71. Dunno. I haven't really researched it much. I don't have anything to go by except the only VIN I could find.

Tell you what though, after seeing what happens to some rigs when flat towing, I love having the flatbed trailer!!!

I flat-tow my '88 Zuk with my '93 Ford Ranger with a 4.0L 5 speed. Gets a little sluggish on the hills, but its a lot quicker than the Samurai and a lot more comfortable than the Summit racing buckets w/5-points, also in the Sammy. I want a Powerstroke and a gooseneck 2-3 car trailer, though, so I can tow a couple friends to Moab this year. :D ~Steve

I flat tow my 93 Isuzu Rodeo about half the trips I do with my "90" 37 ft Fleetwood Motorhome. Any short weekend trips means the MH stays home, but give me a few weeks off and I live like a King.
Here's an early pic. Heading out to the East Coast.

The Rodeo now has full floating Dana 44 with manual hubs in back and Toy front sas and tranny.

Sometimes I break it, like the last trip to Moab this past November and I drove it home on the front axle. Drive shaft on the roof rack and back hubs unlocked.

Works for me so far.

yeah, they're trailer queens.. but they'll show up a lot of tow rigs out there too!

As far as reasons, hows this: If I don't show up at work on Monday, I'm AWOL. That's military speak for "You're in deep doo doo"

And since they already let it go once, they basically said if you don't trailer, you don't go! So... my choice is trailer the rig, or sit at home and watch videos of other people gettin it.

Not much of a choice!!

I tow the '71 CJ5, the '59 FC, and my other junks with my 88 Grand Wagoneer, 4" BDS lift, 33's and (you gotta love this one) 2.73 gears. Yeah, you CAN get 2-low in an NP229, just get it in low, then take the hubs out. This is my daily driver too, gets 20k miles a year easy. Gonna get a 14b rear and 60 front for it as soon as i finish the FC. The BDS springs may ride rough, but even bringing back a 72 IH 1210 with a 392 in it, the overloads kept the 33's outa the wheelwells. I know i'm dumb for towing with the gearing that i have, but i don't give a fawk, 'cause i can't afford to do anything about it yet. I have gone through two t-cases, 3 driveshafts, 2 motor mounts, a tranny mount, and 4 u-joints towin with this truck. :nuke: Rear D44 is about to give up too. Maybe it's time to do somethin?

I have to use my toy as a daily driver, and to haul all my stuff the 6 hour drive down to college. (Spare U-Joints are a good thing!) And to haul me around college and to work down here. poor truck hasn't had a break since I bought it, but then again, it hasn't let me down either. If I actually had a trailer, it would be a tow rig for my Jeep. But for now it'll just have to tow the boat and landscape equip. My XJ's a '90, the GMC is a '93 and stock to the bone...it's great fo sneaking on to construction sites and making people think you work for one the utility companies.

Trail rig is '87 MJ, tow rig is a '92 GMC 1/2 ton.

I decided the tow rig was not enough for a trailer and the jeep on long hauls...it was a little scary braking with a big load.

I bought a '84 M1008 CUCV for a tow only toy.....shame a 6.2 is a freakin' boat anchor and it is sitting in my garage with the injector pump off waiting for parts.........

I've heard this scenario ALOT from the "trailering" guys......

Infact, some of them "worry" about somebody-else asking
about having their junk trailered home if it breaks big-time
and was driven to the trail...... I plan on trailering my junk
just for the fact that I have a trailer, and if I want to wheel
hard, I know all I have to do is make it back to my tow-rig
to be able to get home...........
