: P38 bodylift?

I'm contemplating a mild (max 1") bodylift of the Rangie to help accomodate taller tires. I WILL trick up the suspension a few inches too, but I don't want to alter the chassis geometry to much. I also would like a little more clearance between bumpers and body so I don't automatically fold panels if a bumper flexes in a bit on impact.

I assume cables and hoses have enough slack to accomodate the lift, possibly with some stretching and rerouting. What else need attention. Steering should be possible to adjust for this? Shifter is all electric? Pedals only attach to bodyshell? Radiator hoses and fan cowl maybe need attention?

On paper it seems simple, provided I can find the proper rubber elements for the chassis to body connection. But I fear I'm missing something here?

And don't give me the 'get 5"+ springs and ditch the EAS' shit. :flipoff2: This needs to ride well on the highway, and I'm tired of the scary street manners of my Defender with 90mm lift and 35.5" rubber. I also want to minimize my time on the recaster-relocate shocks-change driveshafts-change brake hoses-bend radius arms-rebush everything threadmill.

Items to check on the classic are:
seat mounts/belt mounts under floor
radiator
radiator hoses
heater hoses
chassis mounted bumpers
hand brake lever
transfer box lever
steering linkage

I would assume most things are more or less identical, with the exception of levers ;-)

Hmm, seems the second generation is easier to lift.

Framerails are furhter outboard, and it seems as if the seats are only bolted to the bodyshell.

My preliminary finding is that the radiator is fixed to the front crossmember, and not to the body. Some rubber part directing air flow may need redesign, though.

Heater hoses - yes, but we're only talking 1-2". There should be some slack?

Bumpers - yes, maybe, but I want them at some distance from body panels.

Handbrake: Shouldn't the cable accept the move?

Transfer case lever - no such thing

Steering - yes, hopefully the cardon like thing can take som more angle, and the axle is long enough to still engage in the clamp.

What am I missing? Don't want to hear that tearing noice when I jack the body...

Steering should be able to take it of you restrict to 20-50mm.

Fuel filler!
Move the tank up with the body (if it's not already body-mounted)

Classic has both transfer lever and hand brake mounted to chassis...
Seems P38 has hand brake mounted on body.
