i recently bought a d60 from an f250 plow truck (79 i think). it has two piston calipers had 16.5" wheels. i want to run 15 wheels w/ 3.5" backspacing. the way these calipers/pads are there is no way to grind enough to fit these wheels. is there a caliper that will bolt up (single piston is ok) or am i going to have to fab some mounts? im going to measure the bolt spacing tonight if you need that.
you can swap to chevy 8 lug stuff and grind them enuff to fit the 15 inch rims
what is the distance between the ears on the caliper bracket?

I'm not totally sure, but here is how I think the big boys run the 1/2 ton calipers, on the Ford ball joint setups. I don't see why it wouldn't work with the king pin as well. I hope folks correct me if I'm wrong.
Evidently the caliper ears are removed, and you use a Ford 1/2 ton caliper bracket. The center will need to be opened to match the knuckle. You will also want to redrill the spindle pattern, so the calipers bleeder is located correctly.
To ge the off set correct, I believe you will have to remove 1/4" of material off the face of the knuckle.
Open the center of a 1/2 ton rotor, and redrill the hub to match the wheel bolt pattern.
Use the 1/2 ton calipers, or a after market equivalent. Some grinding on the knuckle will probably be necessary to clear the caliper.
Hopefully this gives you some ideas.
Good luck:confused:

i will measure the distance between the caliper ears tonight. the bolts on the caliper are 8 1/8" apart but not sure of the ears.
totally different then as this style has no bolts
and as they use 6 studs and i heard ford uses 5...they most likely dont swap easy

I have a friend who has his Ford D-60 ('79) Ground to fit 15" rims. Don't be afraid to use your grinder, a-lot. I know he had to grind so much that the slide that holds the caliper on is normaly "H" shaped, well now he just has a "T".

alright, sorry it took so long to get a measurement. it looks exactly like the pic with the caliper removed. the ears are 10 3/8" apart on the inside edges, 10 15/16" on the outside edge. my coworker has a 60 from ann f350 that has large single piston caliper. he had to grind but was able to make it work. i cant grind the dual piston caliper i have cause ill have to grind the tabs of the outer brake pad that actually hold the pad in the caliper. sounds like a bad idea to me. please help with info from other years/makes that may work. i dont mind grinding just want it to be safe. thanks

If you dont mind running a 2.5 backspacing 15's will fit with little or no grinding on the dual piston calipers

ive already got beadlocks with 3 1/2 back space. id rather not run a wheel spacer if i can avoid it.
