Can anyone recommend what vehicle I should get swing pedals and master cylinders out of to convert a flat fender. Thanks

I've done a conversion with stock pedals and with wilwood pedals. And to be honest, for the ease of use.. the wilwoods win hand down.

I don't know about ease of use but....

We took the whole pedal assembly and both master cylinders from a early YJ for a friends '67 CJ-5. With a little work they fit great and Willwood make a pull type slave cyl that works great with the stock Jeep master cyl for the clutch.

Why not include the '72 and '73 models since they also had hanging pedals? Is it because of the funky cable type clutch?

Yep, you want the mechincal clutch instead of the cable system.

It sounds like the early YJ swing pedal assembly might be what I should try. Are they power? There isn't much room under the hood of a flat fender. I guess I could eliminate the booster and just bolt up the master cylinder .

Theres both power and manual. I can vouch for the wilwood slave though. Cheaper than a CJ slave and works great... even with the 420 and the buick BH with the short fork. <br>http://ajax.extremejeep.com/mike/Pictures/slave.jpg

What are the mods you guys had to do with the cj/yj swing pedals to fit in a flatty? Did you have to cut the bracket any or shorten the pedals? I am going to have to do this soon. Thanks.

Mike,
That is almost exactly what we did on my buddies '5 with the SM420 and 225. His bracket was a little skimpier but hasn;t been a problem yet.

In his '5 with the 225 the power brake booster just tuched the valve cover. We fixed that with a torch and a hammer. It is not to comfortable for me to drive (I'm about 6') but he thinks it is just great where they are. (He's about 5'6")

Nice setup. It sounds like the YJ pedals and the wilwood slave should work, I just need to start collecting parts now.

It better not. How did the run to Uncle Toms go? It sounds like you might need to quit working on the flatty and pull a little maintiance on your rig.
