Okay I figured out the Hi Steer and the spring questions now I need to know what backspacing to run on my wheels with scout springs, Chevy full width axles and 37 inch tires. Old Scout mentioned something about 2 inch backspacing but that is pretty wide. Is that what I have to run? I found several posts on this issue but none with my spring, axle, tire combo. I don't want any rubs so I figured I'd pic you brains before buying wheels. My local surplus store has Humvee wheels for 50 bucks a piece. They look cool but I think the backspacing is like 4 or 5 or something. Anyway I'd love some input on this dillema.

You should put all of the information in this post so people don't have to search to answer your question. The arms you use are going to make a difference. The easiest way to figure it out is to measure. Only you can decide now much tire you want sticking out. Take into consideration how wide of a wheel you are going to run, how wide of a tire you are going to run, and how much clearance you need from the arm to wheel. If you are going to run military Humvee wheels, I thimk it is something like 7.25" back spacing. I am almost positive that you will not be able to clear the arm if you use Parts Mike's arms. Your options would then be to have them recentered, or use spacers. You will proboly need 1 3/4" spacers.

I'm going to run the arms that are turned in for better clearance and probably 12.5 inch tires. The wheels will be 8 inches wide. I know that is kinda narrow for a 12.5 tire but it should help keep it on the bead at low air pressure. Thats why also I decided against the 16.5 military wheels because anything below 15 psi on a 16.5 rim is pretty likely to lose its bead. So I'm running 8 inch wide 16 inch rims with 37-12.5 tires. I'll use the turned in arms now does anyone know what backspacing will work with that combo. I only want to buy wheels once and the less tire showing the better.

I brought up 2" BS because you were headed to a skybuggy with ~10" of lift! When you go up you need to go out as well.
FWIW I run full width chebby with 17x9" TR beadlocks that have 5"BS

Ummmm.... the 16.5 military wheels (Humvee wheels) are double bead-locked.

I didn't know that. I just called and they said they had them for 50 bucks a piece. I don't know if that included the beadlocks or not. What is the backspacing on humvee wheels? Yea I think I'm gonna stay with just stock springs. It is my daily driver so its gotta be stable and streetable. Man I'm stoked.

I think that stock military humvee wheels have a 7 inch backspacing, if your running a front 60, you need dually hubs on the front and wheel spacers on the rear, or just run the wheels backwards on the rear.... this is why people cut out the centers and build them to the desired backspacing one needs, in my case I went with 3.5 " backspacing,"if they ever fawking show up" should clear the springs when fully clocked with 38.5's

One of my brothers (I have six) manages a Discount Tire in Layton Utah and he said he has some brand new aluminum take off chevy 8 lug rims he could get me for 40 bucks a piece. They are 7.5 inches wide with 3.5 backspacing. They'd be pretty narrow for 12.5 tires but they should hold a good bead.

Beadlock them and you will gain an inch of width! :D

8" wide rim for a 12.5" tire is just about right, not a big fan of 10" wide rims.
Hummer bead locks would be great, and the price is good, if it includes the lock-ring. Get spacers and it would be perfect (look at one of snoop's build up)
Like OS said, only you can really tell us what you want. Is this a 3/4T or 1/2T axle? Cause the WMF on the 3/4T units it farther out, allowing more BS for the same wheel position.
I's say suck them in as much as you can with out hitting your arms, and if your brother manages a Discount, then ask him to hook you up with the rim you want in a couple different BS's, and see which one looks best, then have him mount a tire and check it again, then order the set.
He should have no problems handing you a couple rims, you just test fit them (no lug nuts, just fit them up) and then take them back since they are still new.
I'd say 3-4" BS should be no problem, even more so if you have "turned in" arms.
