My friend was thinking about getting a fj40. What kind of lifts are out there for them.

From what I've seen (but I drive an FJ60) there's plenty of lifts available for an FJ40, it's just a matter of taste and how much you're willing to pay.

But on a side note, is that really a question about getting it is if there are lifts available? Seems like I would look at other factors long before wondering if there are lifts, like reliability, general parts availability, how hard it is to work on, what are some problems others have had with there's. Basing the purchase of a vehicle on if there's available for it just seems weird to me.

I would tell him that a SOA is the way to go...you could probaably do it (having the nuckles turned) for about $500 or less depending on steering arms and tie rod. Skyjacker and Rancho both have springs eith 4" or 2 1/2" for around $500 with shocks.(4wheelpartwholsalers)If he buys it...i am doing a spring over and will have my Rancho 2 1/2" lift springs for sale..They are about 3yrs old in great shape....I will probably sell mine for about $250 OBO....Let me know....

SOA is the way to go...my 40 that im selling has it, and the 60 is in the process right now. I agree about when looking for a truck its better to look for other things then the availability of lifts.

Just buy the dam thing! Then figure out what you want to do with it. The worst shape of an FJ is a treasure. Unless your not really into it or don't want to or can't spend the denaro. FJ's are getting fewer and farther between. So tell your friend to buy one and hold onto it. Even if he doesn't do anything to it. :flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

No don't do this. I really sucks when someone buys cruisers, holds on to them forever while they rot to dust......
How many times have I approached someone with a cruiser with weeds growing through it, and ask them if they want to sell and I get the typical anwer...."I gonna fix it up someday". Year after year you watch it rot away:crybaby2:
Reminds me of a farmer that has a group of FJ45 p/u that he won't sell....:skull:

Do a little research on www.IH8MUD.com There are several different lift options explained in detail there. As far as which one is "the best" it depends on what your friend wants to do with his truck.

Cheers,
