I am shortening the HP D44 front that I have to get closer to the 9" @ 64 inches I have now in the rear. The D44 is 67 WMS to WMS. I want to get closer to the 64 WMS to WMS on the 9". The question is this. The inner axle on the long side is 34" from end to center of the universal, and 43.5 total length including the shorty. I want to shorten the long end of the axles housing and want to be able to pick up a stock inner axle from another D44 by at least 4" shorter. I just want to pick one up from the Junk Yard. Does anyone know what axle would work, what axle to look for, or should I just have the inner axle cut down and re-splined to the difference in the axle shortening? Thanks for any help.

I think you would be better off getting your resplined......I don't think they have a "stock' shaft they length you need.

well anything close would be ok. I would rather be a little narrower then longer then the 64". But I think you are probably right. but if anyone has this info please let me know.

Go to Warn's website and look at the axle application chart, this will give you an idea of what's out there.

Hey JDJANDA,
That was perfect, it had all of the lengths in there. Thanks.

If you don't want to move you springs, you have to look @ the difference in measurement between spring pads now & what you want.

hey CJ-Jeeper,
It has nothing to do with the spring perches, I want to narrow the whole axle by 4 inches or so to match the back and be able to just order a stock replacement width without having to order a custom length. That way I can get spares pretty cheap.
