: Moab
Azrckcrawler 12-12-2001, 10:06 AM Anyone know the official dates for the Suzuki gathering at Moab this year? Easter is early this year, March 31st which puts Moab just over 3 months away. I am thinking about heading up there the Thur before the Zuks go. Wheel with friends Fri, Sat, Sun and then with the Zuks on Mon, Tue, Wed and head home Thur. Anyone else planning on going?
yagernc 12-12-2001, 12:00 PM hell ya !
I'm also planning my first trip out this year. I've never been and am not sure where to go or what to do so any advice would be helpful.
Do most people camp out?
Cook or just eat out ?
How far from where you camp/stay to the trailheads?
Camp on the trails?
When does it start?
Where does it start?
Kinda basic questions but important if im driving 2-3 days to get there!!!!!
-------------
Also, anyone who would like to make the treck with me from Raleigh, North Carolina out please contact me. I'd be happy to accomodate others and split some costs. My truck can pull a bigger 2 or 3 car trailer (tag) and truck can ride 6 adults. (crew cab). I'd even be willing to get a goose neck hook up if needed as my next trailer will be that.

zukstur 12-12-2001, 01:17 PM since you are comming up early from Phx have you though about going over to farmington and run the rock garden on friday or saturday. It s not that much out of your way. we could meet you in farmington and wheel for a day before heading to Moab.

squirrelman83 12-12-2001, 01:19 PM Our club is going April 16-21. Yes, it's after EJS and the Zuki get together, but we kinda wanna miss the crowd. I've heard there can be thousands upon thousands of rigs there, and can take like 2 days to do a half day trail. It my second time going there, but first time as a driver; I rode with my buddy with a TJ last year. Its a blast. We stayed in a hotel, but there are a lot of campgrounds everywhere, and some are real close to trail heads. Should be even more fun this year. :) ~Steve
Tusker 12-12-2001, 01:26 PM PROJSAM: scwafish and I are planning on making the trip. scwafish is the detail man, so hopefully he will chime in. If he doesn't finish his rig by then, he will have the displeasure of being a co-pilot though. We should hookup, I'd like to see your rig.
I have never been to Maob, but understand that camping in March or April can be a frosty to snowy experience to say the least. Bring a warm sleeping bag and an escimo woman, an RV, or get a motel.
zukstur 12-12-2001, 04:37 PM Tusker and projsam We usualy camp about 8 miles south of Moab off of hwy 191 where you turn south on the dirt road to upper and lower Heldarodo we are just on top of the mesa on the right hand side. Their are usualy several sammi's and alittle bit of every thing else their. Stop by

M.Martian 12-12-2001, 06:24 PM I plan on heading up that way for the event. I don't know any of the details yet since I've never been to Moab yet.
Tusker, I've got some of the pics of my brother's zuk up on my website now (I had to re-setup the site due to the @home issues). The pics are at http://home.attbi.com/~rokzuki/20011208_hollister.htm
scwafish 12-12-2001, 08:34 PM Me and Tuskers are going to Moab. There was a long thread earlier this year and Glenn said zukfari is the same week as EJS, which is the week preceding Easter. This is when we had planned on going.

Hmmm, how many in your club? I'd like to miss the crowds too. The guys I am going up with only want to stay for a few days, so I figured I could overlap with two groups cause I want to stay for a week to make it worth my while. Not to mention Easter is friggin early this year which means the temps will be on average 10 degrees cooler in March. Anything below 60 degrees and I am cold :D

There should be about 7 guys going from our club... 1 Zuk (me), 3 TJ's (2 with 35's/lockers, 1 fairly stock), 2 CJ's (33's/lockers), and 1 4runner (35's/lockers). We plan on arriving really late on Tuesday the 16th, wheel 17th-20th, and head back Sunday the 21st. Not sure what trails we are going to do yet, but we did Poison Spider, Cliffhanger, and Golden Spike last year. It was fun. Hopefully we'll see ya out there! ~Steve
