Is this bird the bottom of the gene pool....just looking to get selected out? This has gone on for 3 days off and on. We have 3 cats...go figure.

He built a nest in your closet. Now he can't get to his eggs.

oh yeah, been there done that, annoying as hell. its a male & sees its refelction in the glass, thinks its another male & is trying to fight it. we live on the edge of the woods & have had cardinals & robins bloody themselves doing that. i found a picture of a face & blew it up to actual size & put it in the windows that they liked pecking & that stopped them from doing it. they only seem to do it during mating season as the males are territorial. or ive heard you can try getting a couple of those big plastic owls & putting them outside near the house & that scares them away.

is it a Finch?

my parents have a gold finch that will do that in one of the big picture windows until the cat will come up and sit in the window (on the inside) with it. they will sit there for hours. the cat will pawl at the window and the bird will peck at it. this has gone on all summer. if the cat doesn't come to the window, it goes around the house, flapping against the windows one at a time, until it see's the cat. then it will fly back to the picture window and the cat will run in there and they will sit for hours.

i'll post a pic as soon and i can get one from my mom, hopefully tonight.

I've got a spider in the back yard that built his web on the Rooster windmill. Probably seemed like an excellent location when the wind wasn't blowing. It's pretty funny watching the spider spin in circles :D

There were herds of Grouse where I went Elk hunting. Grouse are proof that intelligence is not necessary for genetic survival.

Damn, they are stupid birds. I could have had several, if only I had a five-iron... :shaking:

A group of Grouse is called a pack, not a herd. :flipoff2:

You know animals can have mental illnesses too. OCD is a simple grooming gene gone bad. So combo of illness and natural instinct = crazy stupid bird.

Ok, group of grouse is a pack?

Well, what's a group of Crows?
