I moved this post from the ford section due to lack of responses.

I searched. I have torn apart my chevy dually 60, but not my ford singley 60 yet, so here's my question. What is the limiting factor(s) on putting a 35 spline stub axle into a ford front end? The chevy spindle i.d. is 1.510 so no problem there. Is the ford spindle i.d. smaller? I may run a chevy front with the ford outers (both king-pin) but don't want to run into problems when it's time to put in the large outer axleshafts. I know the wheel hubs are like 1/2" different in length but how does that affect the stub? If that is the limitation, why can I not just cut the excess length off the stub and run a slug?? TIA

The styb axle, hub and spindle are .375-.500 shorter not just the stub. If you do cut it down then I don't know if you will run out of spline before the slug bottoms out or if it is enough engagement to be a real upgrade. Adam Ant had some shims made up to get his 35 spline stubs to work so PM him. One other problem with cutting off the end is loosing the snap ring groove that holds the V-seal up tight against the bck side of the spindle to keep out most of the water.

no you're gay!!! Oh sorry, I digress. I will hit you up for the flanges, is it an ongoing source, or limited? I don't think I'll run hubs unless they're given to me. I checked last night... 35 spline won't fit thru my ford 60 spindle. Slides right thru the chevy one tho.:rolleyes:

How much for the spacers to run GM 35 spl stubs on my 1979 Ford HP 60. will the center ring of the spindle that sits in to the nuckle still engage? Or will the studs noe support the weight of the tuck?

35 spline outer's!

No the studs will not hold the weight of the vehicle the spacer Alum or steel what ever you want I used Alumminum you get larger studs the alum has the recess that sits inside the Knuckle and the spindle fits inside the alum spacer and seats there you gain larger Studs than stock and bigger axles 35 spline and they are cheaper

I would need you'r stock knuckles , brakes you are using and spindle to get it right !!
