I'm going hi-steer on my dana 44, and I want to use heims for the tie-rod. Are 3/4" big enough?

Sure. 3/4X3/4 or 3/4X5/8? Not it really matters. I would opt for the 3/4X5/8

3/4 x 3/4 x 16 is what I got. How come you'd go for 3/4 x 5/8?

No, but seriously, a 3/4" w 5/8" bore quality Rod End (cheap tractor joints don't count) with 5/8" bolt = good.

3/4 x 3/4 14 , 3 piece seems to work well enough on my 6,000 plus bronco.

I dunno.

I used a 3/4x3/4 heim on my track bar on my Comanche. Broke them on a fairly regular basis (I'd say about 8 over 3 years). Tried all kinds of qualities, ended up that the medium grade was the best, we figured that the high grade was too brittle. No way I'd use 'em on steering. And they weren't binding up, either.

I used 3/4 3/4 x 16 on my trackbar and have not broken one. As everyone else said quality matters, especially for steering. When I make my x over it will be with 3/4 3/4

...or Pig Pen has small hands.

Seroiusly, that looks like what Sky Jacker uses on their front suspensions. What size is that thing and how much do they cost and where do you get them?

I run http://www.qa-1.com joints for my steering - 5/8 x 5/8. Never once had a problem with them, tho some of the previous joint brands did loosen after a year. The QA-1 joints have held up great.

When I upgrade to hi-steer, I'll likely also upgrade to 3/4 joints.

One other thing to add in for you guys/gals. I'm running 5/8" on the TR and 3/4"ers on the DL. Have any of you found a retainer washer for the 3/4" hiems to mount it in double sheer? I found them for the 5/8" ones in a pegasus racing catalog, but that's as big as they go. I have a "custom" pitman arm that holds it in double sheer, but I need ONE of these fawkers for the passenger side and can't find it anywhere.

I also noticed that there a lot of folks out there running them with no retainer. Do you feel comfortable doing this?

Thanks

You know what they say about small hands:confused: ......anyways, its a Aurora 1 1/4"-12 Teflon lined Rod End, $59.00, I should have a bunch comming in with in a week or two. I don't think Sky Jacker uses the 1 1/4"s and I don't think they are Aurora's. Not totally sure though.
