: Hand built Steel Half Doors..
ehsankiani 10-20-2003, 11:28 AM Hello there
The mechanics at the workshop here are working on a halfdoor for a M38A1.. Here is a picture of the outer piece..
ehsankiani 10-20-2003, 11:32 AM And the inner piece.. Yes.. It has a lock and both outer and inner handles from a Toyota Corolla installed into the door.. I will take pics of the finished door and post it here too :)
Stilgar 10-20-2003, 11:34 AM That is a sweet half door. Post some more pix!
geberhard 10-20-2003, 11:46 AM Looks very sweet! Man, maybe exporting sopme of tshe doors to the US? If they are durable and lighter than stock half doors, taht could be a good go! From the the US companies I have checked, besides teh crappy looking diamond half metal doors, I have not seen any metal half doors that would be a good setup aside from teh CJ\YJ stock looking ones (thick).

Jeepmangled87 10-20-2003, 07:40 PM WOW, those look good...
Jaffer 10-20-2003, 08:06 PM After seeing many of your pics, Ehsankiani, it so reminds me of the old time Navajo smiths who forged wonderful creations (bridles, belts, bracelets and necklaces) out of Mexican silver coins, adapting available (household and railroad) steel to use as tools.
You are doing a great job documenting the work of your local craftsmen.
I'll never tire of seeing what they will create next ...
ehsankiani 10-21-2003, 11:25 AM Here's one fitted..
ehsankiani 10-21-2003, 11:26 AM The inside nearly done..
ehsankiani 10-21-2003, 11:31 AM Here is where it will lock.. I admit.. It does not look good.. But then.. Its not my CJ.. :)
That is some very nice work as usual! Keep it up and keep the pics coming!
ehsankiani 10-21-2003, 12:04 PM Here is one on a CJ 6
ehsankiani 10-21-2003, 01:11 PM Another one
