I found a high pinion, fullsize 44 out of an pre-80 ford. I was looking at throwing it in the front of my cherokee. Has anyone done this?
The coil pads are about 42.5 inches wide on the 44. Mine on my 30 are about 38 inches wide.
Between the top balljoints, the 44 is about 53.5 inches wide where my 30 is about 48 inches.
Ok, here are a bunch of questions:
--What is the overall width of the 44(wms->wms) compared to the 30?
--I have a stock xj 44 rear. If the front is alot wider, is it worth it to shorten it or find a waggy 44? A common width for easy to find replacement axles would be a plus. Or would wheel spacers in the rear or a full-floater(full-floater= ??wheel pattern) be a good option?
--If possible I would use the radius arms. Can these be moved inward and then just tightened up to solve the spring width problem?
--Ok, any other info that would make this swap work? Do you think it is worth it? I have not purchased the axle yet, just debating if I should.
Thanks for any help.
