Trying to answer a few questions for my brother, you know the kind...don't hear from em' til they need the family gearhead. Anyhow...he has a high mile 86', 2.9, 5 speed, Bronco 2. Only info he has given me to try and locate a rear diff is...# on ring gear...USA E6SWAA1138. Local Ford dealer told him to check in the door jam for axle type...it says axle #42. I figure the # on the ring gear, that ends in 1138 is maybe 11T pinion and 38T ring? Hell I'm a Jeep guy, any info would help big time...this poor bro's in the middle of an ugly divorce!!! Thanks in advance.:smokin:

Is he looking for the gear ratio, or the ring diameter?? The ratio will be stamped on the tag(if its still there) on one of the ring gear bolts, but the rear end is a 7.5".

Right now he is looking to find the ratio...so we can go junk yard hunting. I told him to count the teeth and figure the ratio, but he's outside in the dark....so I'm trying to gather some info...Thanks guys

Your right its got the 7.5" rear end. Axle code 42 is for 3.45 gears. Same gears as in my B2. Check out www.therangerstation.com for lots of information.
