There is suposed to be a very nice trail near Cambers Lodge, CA (http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?BFCat=&Pyt=Tmap&newFL=Use+Address+Below&addr=&csz=Chambers+Lodge%2C+CA&Country=us&Get%A0Map=Get+Map) right off of Lake Tahoe. I am sure if your do some research you'll be able to come up with a lot of info. Enjoy your vacation.

Well, since you're from my birthplace, I'll humor you.
From South Shore, take hwy 50 west-bound.
Turn right onto Ice House road (just before you cross a major bridge over the American River)
Take that road up the hill and follow the signs to Loon Lake.
Cross the dam and keep going until you can't go anymore (in 2wd)
Thats the Rubicon Trailhead.
Lock hubs and have fun.

GREAT send him the LONG WAY!

There is the east side of the trail and it's more fun than US 50!

WHen you get closer to vacation, send out another query and see what people have planned. Always someplace to go and wheel around here! :smokin:

99% of weekend traffic starts from the Loon Lake side, and this is the way I go.
If he wants to go during the week, then going in from Tahoma would be better. Down to the springs and backup again would be fun, but would miss the sluices, buck and spider.
If he did the whole trail, then he'd be doing the 'long way' coming home. Same difference.
I understand , now, that RHYS wants to ride shotgun with someone from the local area, and won't be bringing his rig down.
Anyone in the TAhoe area wanna give this Rubicon-virgin a tour this coming summer ?
