D30 297X Joints...What years & options?

What years of xj's or tj's have the high pinion D30 and the 297X joints? Earlier years with ABS came with 297 joints, but I don't know which years. Mine doesn't have ABS. Is there anything on an ABS axle that is incompatible with a non-ABS Jeep? Or can I remove whatever extra stuff it comes with? TIA.

as far as I know no TJ came with a HP D30.

I dont know on XJ's, and TJ's did NOT come with hi pinion. But 95 YJ has the ABS and bigger u joints. Only YJ model I know of with it.

XJ were HP until 00, when they switched to the TJ 30. But like everything DC does, there are probably a few 00's with HP's and 99's with LP's.

297's were used globally in TJ's and XJ's after 95 and prior to 95 all ABS XJ's alledgedly had 297's.

ABS is no big deal, all it is is a tone ring on the axle shaft that doesn't interfere with anything and probably a bracket somewhere to hold the ABS sensor. I have ABS ZJ shafts in my non-ABS XJ with the tone rings still attached - they fit just fine.

Keith is right about the YJ's. the 95 YJ is the only place to get 297X shafts for vacuum disco housings (aside from sticking a one piece shaft in)

I had a 96 XJ, hpD30, 297X joints and no vac disc on the pass side and no ABS. Shafts would make a good swap into a D30 with the vac disc and the 260x joints. Just my .02

My 1987 model HP D30 i'm swapping into my S10 has the 260-x joint on the passenger side, and the guy that had it before me broke the left joint so he upgraded that side to the 297-x joint & axles...i need to upgrade the right side now to match.
