: figuring ride height w/coilovers
Overlord 10-24-2003, 12:08 PM How do you guys do it? I'm dumb so bare with me.
Example, say if your sprung weight at each corner is 1000 lbs, your coil(s) unload height is 28", and the spring rate of your coils are 250 lbs. The spring would compress to 24" at normal ride height/load. So you just make your upper mounts 24", give or take on how much lift you want, from your lower mount, right? Or am I completely off my rocker here?
redneckengineered 10-24-2003, 12:20 PM I'd like to know the answer to this as well. But, I think you meant "sprung weight" because unsprung weight has nothing to do with right height. It is everything below the suspension basically (ie unsprung).

Yep, spung weight, oops.:flipoff2:
Pazuzu 10-24-2003, 02:17 PM And, 1000 pounds per corner, 250 lb/in springs means 4 inches of drop.

To really figure it out you need to know what travel shock you are going to be using and you need to know what kind of up vrs down travel you want.
