crazycraig posted a question about arb's and detroits... i think a poll could be interesting in this........

this is a poll for detroits or arb's so piss off on the lunch box locker and the spool :flipoff2:

keep the votes to personal experience, not hearsay

What, no "I suck ass and run open diffs" option?

:D

(I fall into that category, BTW :flipoff2: )

Hey JeepGuy...You need to add "never had problems" with both...In 5 years of using f&r ARB's in my D90 I never had a single problem with them...And that's after poping about a 1/2 dozen axles and beirfields. Never a problem with the solenoids, sitches or blue lines (wraped in 3/8" fuel line)...

I'm in a similar boat as camo. only driveline parts i haven't broken are the ARB and the rear axle that contains it. Isuzu 12 bolts are beefy.

Flawed poll :p

There is no option for people who have broken both - which one would they chose?
There is no option for people who have broken neither.

Personally, I have seen in excess of 12 Detroit lockers die inf front of my very own eyes. ARB's - I guess I have seen 2 fail - one being my own :p

ok, maybe i should of put a broke both section...... but if you didnt break then i didnt care.... ive never heard of a detroit breaking.................... now we can go deeper too i mean either one would break quicker in a 35c clip, vs a 60.... i just want to know who has had problems with each one.... in general.... :p

No problems with the front ARB in the three years it has been there. The rear has only been in there 6 months so I can't really comment on how it has held up.

two ARB's... one in front, one in back.

no problems with ARB's.. (the one I melted seems to be working fine after its rebuild)

now the pump valves... thats a different story....One spits oil onto the bottom of the hood. how it gets from my axil to the valve I have noooooo idea... and the other leaks air.

I had several detroits of which ive broke its usually a side gear , I hate them them produce to much slack in the drive line / I now have arb's f&r and love them and have not had a problem with them for over 1 1/2 years go arb. Plus arb will stand behind there product where i have had problems (several) with tractech:D :D :D

Um, you have a broken ARB, the seals are gone. You also get to vote broken ARB now!

As for me, I have run Lockrights and Detroits for 6 years with no failures yet.

A friend had a similar problem, and it was because he had no diff breathers, and the heat in the axle built up pressure and pushed the oil up the arb lines.

hmmmm think Ill check my breathers first...

my arb only emets oil only when engaged.. usally seems to happen at lock on... or lock off but not while running with it locked

and ohhhhh gooodddddyyyyy I get to vote now.
