I ended up with 78 ford dana 44 for my ifs swap.

Im kinda stumped as what to do now, I also have 14ff for the rear.

I dont want to run ford stuff on the front id rather swap to chevy parts from the knuckles out. from what ive heard it seems my best route is to swap to chevy 6 lug parts to keep cost down and parts availabitly high. suposebly what Ive been told is that 8 lugg chevy 44 parts are rare. is this true??

if I swap to 6 lug that means Ill have miss matched wheels. or just sale my 14 bolt and leave the semi floter 14 bolt under the truck. wich doesnt seem like the best option to me. because sooner or later Ill find my hi pinion dana 60 localy.

so what are my options, if I stay 8 lug in the front.

thankx in advance for any info you can pass my way

They aint ford parts, they dana parts. Dont sweat it, just run her they she is. I know a lot of ford guys running the same combo, D44(or60) front, FF14 rear. i would just leave her and I hate ford as much as the next guy.

Uh, yeah, so if they "aint ford parts, they dana parts", how come the ford dana 60's are completely different than chevy from the knuckles out?

I would just run the Ford stuff and swap out the stub you said needs replacing. The pitted gears aren't much of a problem with how little use the front end will see anyway. Just run it as it is till you find your 60.

ahhhhh errrrr not sure what to do.

grrrrrr so the ford axle is alittle narrower than the chevy, I like narrower better, no need to have the tires stickn out further if they dont need to.

guys thankx for your replyies, Im still contemplateing

thankx

You have the 14 bolt sf in there now? What gears are in it? How much you going to sell it to me for when your swap is done?

On my ford 44, I just picked up a set up chevy flat top knuckles for $50 for the set from a junk yard, then a friend gave me set of big bearing spindles he had from his J10 44, I bought the hub and rotor combo for from autozone for $160 for both sides, and the caliper brackets were $100 for the set from Border parts. I had a hard time finding the 8 lug brake parts at the yard I go to:rolleyes:

Ox what kind of custom spring are you running in the rear? Did you get a set made or pick and pull from something else?

Thanks
Justin

Alcans, It sits a little bit low in the back so I think I might actually do a 1" zero rate a add-a-leaf
