My Haynes manual recommends chasing the head bolt holes.
I would usually skip this, but two of the bolts look like they had exhaust gas leaking onto them. They are burnt to the point a few threads are misssing.
The point being I need to chase those holes, and replace the bolts.
Anyone know the size and thread pitch? I think they are 12mm x 1.25, but I can not find a chase this size.
Any ideas?.

I would HeliCoil them if you have any doubts about the threads.

The block looks fine. I finally found a place that had a 12mmX1.25 tap. I soaked the holes overnight with carb cleaner, found that trick on another website. Chased the threads and they looked good.
I am stalled on getting the thing running. I bought a carb and intake set up from Northwest offroad and the special throttle cable kit they talked up so much is worthless. I was sold a bill of goods on that. Also I can not find a cold setting for the valve clearance. I makes on sense to have head work done, start the engine to let it warm up before doing any valve clearance setting.
So that is more web research I need to do.
I will be an freakin master mechanic before I get this thing running.

NWOR=crap
Set the valves lash cold at .008 and .012 as specified. Start and run, and break in the engine for 20 minutes. Then check and reset the valve lash.
