How in the f@*k do I adjust the rear brakes on my 97 GMC? It has a 10 bolt rear end (I think??) and there are not access holes to get a brake adjusting tool in there. Am I missing something??

If it doesnt have the access hole for the adjuster tool you can remove the drum then adjust the spreader to tighten up the brakes then put the drum back on and check it and keep adjusting it till the brakes seem tight but not loose. Remember not to over expand the spreader or you wont be able to get the drum back on. Its a pain to turn the spreader to collapse back down since the teeth on it are designed to be pulled only one way.

Take the drum off and look for an oval shaped spot cast into the outer part of the face of the drum. there is usually a knock out on it that you pop out with a chisel.. then after you put the drum back on you can put an adjusting tool thru that to get to the adjuster unit on the bottom....
hope this helps..

That did it!! When I took the drum off to adjust them, I checked for the knock out. Couple swift whacks with the mallet and chisel and I was adjusting brakes. THANKS!!!
