Fryday I had off school so I worked, then I picked up the front half of a 83 chevy 3/4 ton 4wd frame with the 10 bolt axel, stering box etc, also picked up a drivers side gas tank for the pickup so I have dule tanks.

sat worked, the 1st half and went wheeling the 2nd half in the pickup, not much carnage, broke one of the bolts that mont my shock tower to the frame, and fawked up my tail pipe

Sun made a battery hold down, rebuild the clutch slave clilinder and tore apart the chevy frame/axel

First time we both made a run in my Scout since March.. only the 2nd time Tigger's been out since then.

Nothing too eventful.

Friday I baked my bean for 8 hours taking the PE exam. Saturday I slept in late and vegged in the morning/afternoon and drank some beer and watched some movies that night. Sunday was beautiful fall day here in the mid-west so I pulled the Scout out of the garage, swept out the bay and straightened up a little. Then I hooked up the laptop to the ECM and ran the engine for bit while I monitored a few vitals. Then I switched the ECM to one I modified to accept my adapter/switcher and flash chips (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=1994136#post1994136). It worked!! I ran the engine a while, shut it down, switched memory banks to a second profile and fire it back up. Success again... the switching part of the adapter works as well. That called for a little celebration so I took the Scout for a little drive.... it was a VERY SHORT drive for obvious reasons:

http://www.mo-4xtoys.com/torc/P0002034.jpg

After that I decided my air cleaner was too restrictive so I hacked the air horn off another air cleaner, cut a hole in the side of my good air cleaner and welded the other air horn onto it to make a two horned air cleaner (sorry, no pic yet).

Saturday- stripped down the axle I got from TORC. Checked the pattern and cleaned it up, thanks TORC.

Sunday- Sherif came by and told us to evacuate. Watched the area burn down all around my house. Finally got some sleep this am, fires still continue to burn:( , but it looks as if my house is safe.

Nothing useful to the IH community.

Got a quote on a 24 x24 detached 2 car garage...ouch....$11,200.

I live on a hillside so the earth work is going to cost some change. I think I can wait a little longer and do it myself.

$11,200 doesn't sound so bad.. less than a buddy's spending on his new 24x24 garage..

Not only did I go wheelin' on Saturday, but Sunday I felt good enough that I broke out the shovel and did some more work on my trench to the shop.

It's supposed to snow Wednesday, so it looks like I'll be trying to finish getting the power, cable TV, ethernet, and phone to the shop before then, and maybe the gas line will wait until spring. :(

Rent a trencher and do it all in an afternoon.

I already did.

But, of *course*, the most direct route goes right over EVERY service entrance to the house (power, phone, cable, gas, well, septic), so there's a lot of hand digging there, which is thankfully done.

I also wound up with a short section that I couldn't trench and still get the trencher out of the way.

For the electric, I just need to finish hand digging right against the house and right against the shop, and I'm good to go.

The gasline has a section to shovel out (where I drove the trencher out), and then a couple feet to get to the house.

It's dark by 5:30 these days, which isn't helping. :D

One of my "problems" is I've been trying to keep the shop at my mom's "functional".. which means minimal tools at my house.. like my d*mn lights. :D

Or the extra-long screwdriver I needed Saturday night while trying to tighten a leaking fuel vent fitting on the 33gal tank..

decided to go with hydro-assist, went to Rock Logic and purchased their setup. tore steering box off to get it rebuilt and ported, then tore front 32 spline output shaft out of the ford 205, researched carving up 205 shafts for twin sticking it, and still no fawking wheels:rolleyes:

Picked up a 20 ton press, a ball joint press and a bearing seperator from HF. :D

Spent a couple hours trying to press the ball joints out. I finally gave up before I broke the knuckle. :flipoff2: Guess I'll have to have a pro do it.

Ground some more on my hillbilly engineered diff cover. Nearly done with it - just have to drill the holes and final sand and it'll be ready for paint.

I should have the TruTrac and the 4.89 gears in soon. :D

Oh, and I canned pears all day Friday.

I had to remove a set of rusted BJ's from a knuckle. I'd torque down the press as much as possible, then lightly tap the screw with a 5lb. The shock would pop the BJ loose, repeat a couple of times then it would press right on out. For installation put the BJ's in the freezer overnight. They go right in with little effort.

I'm in Chicago for the week. Lincolnshire to be specific.

All of my parts have arrived for my winter project so I'm pretty stoked to get back.

Front 60, new arms, kingpins, 4:88's/seals/bearings, hydro assist

Rear 14 bolt, shaved, 4:88's/etc/

Probably going to end up bobbing the tub later. Also, have to get some rings made for 16.5 aluminum beadlocks.

Washed the mud STAINS off of the rig from Memorial Day finally.

Washed the pine and dirt off the rig buy hand.

Cleaned the motor of the 1" thick sludge that was on it from the deep water crossings of memorial day.

Sprayed out and blew out all the damn pine needles from the trees in my yard.

Bought a car cover....it is this really nice blue color and a cool material called.........ummmm.....tarp?:D

Both BJs popped right out of the first knuckle using the impact wrench. The other lower one wouldn't budge. I soaked it down with WD40 last night and gave it another shot before I left for work this morning. This evening I tried again and after hammering for a few seconds it banged really loud and came out. The upper came out real easy. :flipoff2:

Saterday went to the border to fix a stalled truck, right at the entry booth. Usually not a big deal but this time they were doing terrorist drills. All the bigshots were standing around getting in the way asking dumbass questions and slowing everything down then getting mad because it was taking too long in their opinion. Replaced an alt. that night I can't keep fron wondering how good of obw that heavy duty 160 amp alt would make. The draw back is it's size. Sunday actually took a day off to get in a little hunting. The wife and I finished that in about three hours. The freezer will look alot better now. Got a set of full width chevy 4:10.s and some other misc. parts

Since it was 70 on Monday, but it's a supposed to be a high of 27, low 11 tomorrow and snowing the rest of the week..

I can't put the hardtop on my SII, but we still need to put the top back on the 800.

Since I was busy finishing the conduit for the juice to the shop, I just went out in the rain, sat on the wet (vinyl, thankfully!.. the bikini is on, but the windows were rolled down.. ) driver's seat, cranked for a while, fired up the 800 and just drove it into the empty shop. :D

At least this way I won't have to shovel the inside of the Scout out when we get some time this weekend to toss the hardtop back on..

Bikini top and highs in the 20s w/ snow is only fun for so long.. :D

(It WAS kinda fun the night I drove through McDonald's drive-through with the bikini top and an inch of snow on me and everything else in the Scout.. "Aren't you cold?" "Why?")
