whenever i hit the brake, my truck wants to careen off the road, usually to the right. my rear brakes were shot, i bought 2 new drums and new shoes, and i redid the front discs. it worked good for like 2 weeks, then it started back up again. does anyone else have these problems? i figure it must be from mud gettin in the drums or something

Id check to make sure that one of your rear wheel cylinders isnt shot, and it sounds like you have a bad caliper in the front that is stuck and when pedal pressure is applied it will pull the vehicle in the direction of the side with the bad caliper. The bolts that the caliper slides on are probably rusty and the piston might be shot. Also check your proportioning valve. It might be bad causing either the front or rear brakes to get too much pressure causing you to lose control of the vehicle.
sounds like yah should replace your calipers could be 1 is working other isnt or one is locking up, just replace them both and be done with it

I've got a similar problem.
My 88 blazer wants to visit the ditch under medium deceleration. By meduim, I mean just not at every stop light. I just got the truck and haven't dug into the brakes yet, just checked the linings. Since they looked fine, I was wondering if it could be a suspension thing. Do you think weight transfer has anything to do with it? Could a shot bushing on one side pull the truck when weight is transfered under meduin braking. If it was just the brakes pulling, wouldn't it pull under light applies too???
Thanks for letting me chime in too... let us know what you figure out drunkmarine.

What it is it's the caliper thats dragging (going bad)....on 1 side. Spend $25.00 and put 2 new calipers on it and be done. C YAAAAAAAAA
