Just go off the phone with the guys at Randy's about getting a Detroit for my Sterling 10.5", they said that all I have to do is swap the carriers, change bearings and keep the shims the same. Is there a catch? This seems too easy.

Make sure that U check the gear mesh, that is the catch!

I forgot to mention to check the backlash before I remove the stock carrier and then check the new carrier to make sure they are the same.
