Can anyone help with info on NV4500 applications?

Specifically, is there any differences between a NV4500 out of a 4x2(dodge) and a 4x4? Even more importantly, can this tranny be mated to a np203 range box, or a toyota fj40 "3spd" transfer, or a np205?

Help me out folks!! Thanks!!

They can be mated to the 205. Some of the guys on the TDR site have done it, might try the first gen forum here http://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=11, or the conversions section here http://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=30.

As for the 203, maybe Stephen at ORD would know? ORD's tech board is on Colorado K5, here http://coloradok5.com/forums/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=ord.

There is a light duty and a heavy duty version of the 4500, the only application I know for sure is the Cummins trucks use the HD one, I THINK the V10s do to, and the V8s the LD. Not sure about Chevy applications, or how it affects t-case selection.

Also, Advance Adapters supposedly has a 4500 conversion manual with lots of good info, but I've never seen (or looked for) one.

The NV4500 out of a Dodge 2wd will be a slip yoke and 31 splines (of the top of my head here..).

And the 4wd gas version(until '01, then it changed to 29 splines) will have 23 splines (NP pattern tailhousing). The HD (diesel) has another spline count (I think these are 29 too).

The majority of AA's adapters for the NV4500 are based on the Dodge gas 4wd 23 spline tranny, but not all of them.

Some do use the Chevy tranny (various spline counts , including 32--which is cut down to an existing 31 spline section on the stock shaft).

They do make adapters for just about everything though, including 205s, 203s and , I believe, the TLC cases.

AA's NV4500 book is $10, but has tons of info and PNs. It's worth it, if you are serious about a NV4500.

And FYI, I found the best prices on AA products at No Excuses Inc. (normally 20% off of AA's prices).
