I got a trailer last night for hauling my truck. It was an old race car trailer and it has a boom that swings out on the front to pick up an engine etc. The trailer also has a tire rack that I will be torching off, but should I keep the boom. It is about 5 feet high and extends 5-6 feet. I'm trying to think if this would be useful in some weird situation. Can you think of any time you would use a boom on a trailer? Should it stay or should it go???

i'd keep the boom. would really come in handy for using the trailer to get engine/axles/parts/heavy things in general, you could use it to pull an engine outside when the weather is nice. i'd definitely keep it.

Another vote to keep the boom!! Beats having to strap down a hoist when you need it. Morpheus hit it on the head.

Why are you gonna torch the tire rack? I an under stand if it's in
your way for your wheeler, but You might want to keep it on there
for awhile and see if you ever actually might want it there.

Keep the boom, definitely! I'd keep the rack too if the rig fits behind it! Great for carrying coolers and spares and stuff!
