i have a mid 60's jeep closed knuckle d 44 that i would like to put discs on. i have found several places that sell disc conversions for eb with d44's in them. my question is how much of a difference is there between the eb 44's and the jeep one and will the eb kit work in my application? i guess i could spend the $500.00+ to find out but if it does not work then i will be stuck getting rid of the kit.
thanks,
kenny

I remember reading an article (years ago by Jimmy Nylund of Four Wheeler Magazine) about putting discs on an early Jeep D25 closed knuckle front end. I think he used later CJ disc front end spindles, hubs and rotors and GM 1/2 ton calipers and brackets......However, I think (not sure, though:eek: ) that the GM 1/2 ton small bearing, disc brake spindles will fit a closed knuckle D44 front end but, you'd probably have to swap stub axles because, yours are most likely 27 spline using an external hub and the smaller 267x joint..... You know I was comparing my original EB small joint shafts with the larger joint replacements and I believe there's enough meat on the inner axle yokes (they seem to have the same outer dimmensions) to fit a 297x joint by boring them to the proper size thus allowing you to use the GM stubs and fit the outer snap ring. Something to look into anyway..... These are just thoughts going through my head and not for certain.....I wouldn't spend all that money on a kit when, you could scrounge the bone yards and ads and probably spend less than half the price of the kits:eek: I probably wasn't any help at all, was I:rolleyes: .......Hans
