How do you do those nice, smooth, large-radius bends? Doesn't looked discolored from a torch. Perhaps some sort of special bending apparatus? Do tell.

btw- Those are fawking awesome!

special rolling machine at work.....gonna make 10 and see how it goes...getting upper neck and crank tubes machined and working on a deal to get some chromed...my next personal frame is gonna be polished alum, kinda going for total shine with a tan seat..

i hope nobody sees these and runs out and steals your idea and starts cranking them out in mass pro. but then again, it wouldn't be the same as a one dude-made custom like these.

Here's what Dallas made for his first bike.. Hes making a pink cadillac one for his GF, and he's gonna make another one for himself... I gotta get him to make me one... This one kicks ass!

I'd rather have different forks on mine, but he was using what he had left of another bike to build it, so it wasn't too expensive.. This one doesnt have brakes...

I used to use that wxact machine at my old work. very nice machine and you can do some pretty cool shit between that and a bender.

Hell yeah man, that looks sweet. I actually just started on 2 more bikes today, one to replace the red one scott posted above, and one for my friend that works at HARO and gets me all the head tubes and bottom brackets. Next ones are gonna be saweet, but those long sweeping bends can be a BITCH without the right tools. I'm actually looking for a manual rolling machine, but dont know where to look or what they are actually called. We had one in my HS shop, and it could do some pretty cool stuff.

that's the machine...StinkBug, if you find a manual one let me know the info, I'd like to have one personally.....and I do like the second one a little better, I took more time into it....that is until I put the jockey shift and black rims on mine...now they're even.....now that a couple shops will be selling them I had to come up with a name so what do you guys think of "IMFAMOUS PEDDLERS"

StinkBug

I wish i knew who made that roller at my school. It was super simple, just 3 rollers with a big ass wheel on the side and an adjustment knob to push the top roller down between the other 2. Hell if I cant find one, I may just draw up the pieces needed in auto cad and build one myself.

BTW, I like the name.

the reason i was asking about rim size was because i got to thinking last night about a rear disk brake and maybe like an 8 speed cassette. i've found the rear hub that will allow both the 8 speed and hydrolic rear disk, but it's money. and that's not counting the rim and spokes. but...it'd be sick. ad far as the shifter, i really got to thinking, but i'm not sure that idea is possible.

The actual tire makes a little bit of a difference. I'm running a 24" rim in the rear, but because of the HUGE tire they actually measure out to 25.5". BTW when they say its a 20, 24, or 26" wheel, thats actually the tire diameter, not the rim, which IMHO really doesn't make sense. The rims are always the same size no matter what the tire, but whatever, I didn't make the rules. :flipoff2:

Cobb

ok...but like for example...Dallas, you said your rear end could do a 26" tire/rim thingy. so...i'm just wondering if that's the same as a mtn bike, so i could use the disk brake ready rear hub. now...i just need to find a hydro brake lever without the built in shifter. i've got another SICK idea for that. just have to take one apart, and see if the like shifter itself can be remade and adapted to aa shift lever, maybe suicide position, with a little rat fink skull shift knob. daym, i've got to much time on my hands.

I don't see why you couldn't use that cassette, but I think Nick could fab something up for a disc brake out of some parts he's very familiar with....hint... hint ;)

yeah...i know i could just use a rear hub with povisions for a cassette, but this one is shimano's special rear disk brake hub. so no need for brackets, their brake rotor just slides on and locks in place.

ToyFamily

the curent hub I have for the 3 speed is shamano, I like the way this 3 speed shit is inside the hub....(ain't been around this bike stuff for a long time) it was an easy change from one speed to three, just change the rim and bolt on the shifter...

and that is my little sister, she's way not legal.... only driving soon....but you can see her compete at the womens rockcrawling comps this year in a rock equipment razor!!!! just keep yer distance or I'll wrap the spotter strap around your neck :flipoff2:

oh...so there is no derailure setup, it's all just in the hub? that's cool. the setup that i'm looking at will require a derailure and a little bit of fabrication.

ToyFamily

yea, the internal gears were cool but the seller was that it also had a coaster brake...so I didn't even have to set up brakes...I'll get pics when I borrow my friends digi

also...was it jsut the hub portion and you built a rim around it, or was it the entire wheel assembly?? it'd be cool to have that hub on a smaller rim similar to Dallas' frame and rear wheel. now i'm just being too picky!!:D :D

vw87c
11-05-2003, 03:03 AM
internal planetary gear hubs are still available new.

http://bike.shimano.com/comfort/Nexus/index.asp

instead of looking at shimano road and mtb equipment you have to look at the comfort bike stuff. about ten years ago shimano was trying out some planetary mtb hubs too, dont know what ever happened it to it?

cobb,

as far as the question about building up the hubs with different rims, it should be no problem. go to a reputable wheel builder and they'll build you almost anything you want. 20", 24", 26" or even 700c rims on (almost) any hub. 48spoke radial laced spokes would look pretty cool on some of those machines.

sweet bikes.
