: SRS and Volatge Drop

Yep I have the dreaded SRS problems. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the SRS system on ignition looks for somewhere around 13.2 – 13.4 Volts and if it is not present it illuminates the annoying SRS light and disables the SRS system.

I’m getting 12.41V at the Battery, what are the chances that a new battery will solve this problem? Anyone have any other suggestions on what to check? Looking for another option than just waiting for the light to burn out. :flipoff2:

If the battery voltage falls below a preset level (I believe it is 10.7 volts) during cranking, the air bag error light will become illuminated-until reset and extinguished by a Testbook.

Replacing the battery and/or alternator will not return functionality to this component, nor extinguish the light.

Lastly, oftentimes when this occurs, fatal faults can be caused to the SRS ECU.

After a while, you get used to the flashing lights on the dashboard.

In my personal experience, not even the dealership with current testbook software have been able to extinguish this light. Rovacom and Autologic have not been able to touch it.

Peace,
Paul

Thanks Paul,

I'll check the voltage drop tonight. Other than that I guess I will just be taking advantage of the extended warranty that I have left.

I was under the impression that the SRS light was one of the only lights that would reset itself without dealer intervention. That is in the case of a voltage problem once rectified.

Actually, it is more likely to be the one that will not self-correct. All of the rest will extinguish if the condition ends-think ABS when the sensors get back to position. Although, my ABS doesn't work either.
