: Scout II Hi-Steer
elev8edcj5 11-02-2003, 11:20 PM Okay, I did a search, yielded no results. I'm putting some D44's from a 1976 Scout II under my CJ-5. I'm curious how you all are running your hi-steer setups. I know I can run the Chevy knuckles, but then I have to run 6-lug (blah!)...So what do you all think, is there a flat-top knuckle out there that I can use without swapping axle shafts, bearings, seals, etc...
MochaMike 11-03-2003, 01:09 AM Next time I'd suggest you post it one place or the other, wait to see if you get a good answer, then post it here..
(rather than crosspost (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=190920) right off the bat...).;)
elev8edcj5 11-03-2003, 07:51 AM Didn't mean to step on anyone's toes, I was just looking for some answers. I figured the more places I post the more replies I'd get.
RustoleumWhite 11-03-2003, 08:21 AM I think you need to try searching again.
I simply typed "High Steer" in the search engine, specifid on the IH section, and was given 5+ pages of result, check out a couple and one was even a guy doing with a CJ5...
go figure.
Yes, you can do high steer with scout 27-spline outers, you don't NEED to run 6-lug stuff, even if you descide to run the "better" chevy/19 spline stuff... All this has been covered in-depth before, many times... I just don't feal like (or have the time right now) to re-type it again.
Expecialy when someone says "I searched but didn't find anything".... which I find hard to belive.
Snoopy 11-03-2003, 09:26 AM Drill out the knuckles to 8-lug and keep the scout spindles/brakes. There's more than enough room there to do it safely, not only are 4 of the 8 holes all by themselves, but the other 4 holes have .400" of room around them as well....
thats what we do
Old Scout 11-03-2003, 11:21 AM The Chevy brakes are better/cheaper and a F150 rotor will get you back to 5x5.5" and internally splined hubs! The Ford rotor/hub is only 40.00! Or you could spend ~350.00 on a warn kit!
offroader1006 11-03-2003, 01:27 PM what year f150?
Mechanos 11-03-2003, 02:16 PM SEARCH, man SEARCH!!!!!!!!! This stuff has been covered MANY times here and most of us are tired of typing the same info every week.
offroader1006 11-03-2003, 02:32 PM If you are so tired of posting the same info, why bother posting your whines
a year is 4 letters, your whine was 91.
:flipoff2:

its takes less time for us to be an ass then spend all the time it will require to answer the questions that are available in probably no less than 10 posts in the last year... easy. :flipoff2:
And for a "newbie", throw around too much lip with out us "knowing you" (aka been around a while so you become "family")... and your posts will be ignored... we're just jerks like that :D
ANY F-150/Bronco with 4x4 and discs, there, that help

Eventually you'll make it to the "un-newbie peeps with avatars group", but with your current 'tude, you'll never be

Haha, I smell thin skin and alot of fun flaming coming on. You seriously need to change that attitude. You need to do a whole lot more searching and lurking before you post again.
This is from one newbie to another.:flipoff2: :flipoff2:
offroader1006 11-03-2003, 10:03 PM If i reeeeeeaaaaally wanted to know, i'd stop posting and search.
How can you tell my attitude without cool voice tags
[Dr. Evil]How bout, . . . . no Scout[/Dr Evil]

Thanks for proving my point.
Snoopy 11-04-2003, 08:18 AM ".....And that *gentlemen* is how we turn a overworked tech thread into a bashfest. As you can see the newbie is holding up quite well to the old farts crowd."
Note how, when the newbie counters and returns fire, the old farts start to dog pile. Its quite amazing that the newbie has kept near the top of the ever increasing flames. Usually at this point the newbie will turn tail and lurk for a few weeks. This one shows promise, and may survive the day!"
:D :D :D :D :D

no, he'll get the attention he craves in this thread... but then be ignored and not helped in any other thread he posts a question in until his attitude changes.
its nothing about "thin skin" or "tucking his tail and running"... its attitude, and not taking advice and help and sh*tting on his dinner plate. Many people can be a smart ass and continue to flip shit... doesn't mean anyone will take them serious and give them the help they need/want when they want it.
Bill is always talking about "community" on the BB.... well we have the same thing here... just that it needs to be earned, and it is rarely about post count.....
Mechanos 11-04-2003, 03:28 PM Couldn't agree more, Rusty....
As for offroader1006.... all I can say is that the :rainbow: is strong with this one.

Sigh, where's a mod to hit this idiot with the "newbie virus" and delete all his worthless posts from this thread?
offroader1006 11-05-2003, 11:34 AM so yours is meaningful?
people who discuss meaningless things are just as meaningless

It's not a pissing match here. You are not and will not be accepted until you stfu and change your shitty attitude. I'm sure you are one post from going on mine and everyone else's ignore list.
Now go away before I taunt you a second time:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Maybe its just me, but I thought that was rather cleaver. ~
This thread started out pretty good and has gone to the dogs. Not to take sides but ~ I don't see *much* of an attitude. He is a little *sharp*, but no sharper than some of you has been to me.
If I were a newbie and wanted to join/fit-in with this forum I'd act similarly ~ throw attitude around (as a "When in Rome" thing). I think the problem is that *we* dont know him yet...and therefore we are a little offended/put off by an outsider doing exactly what we do (its just we are used to it/expect it from one another, not some newbie).
So stop being a bunch of pansy's and FLAME THIS NEWBIE (in fun)! Its the POR thing to do! :D ;) :p :)

jdjanda 11-05-2003, 08:27 PM It's all about earning your stripes. Once you've proved that you have something to contribute then you'll be welcomed until then you're just another smart mouthed DAN.
And just because you've done an SOA on your Scout doesn't make you hardcore or PBB worthy. Contribute some quality tech or STFU.
