Well??? What went on this weekend?

Finished the old house last week and new renter's moved in this weekend. Now that that is "done" (still have to clean out the "workshop" that goes with the house ) I was finally able to get some things done around the new house. Replumbed and hooked up the Washer and Dryer (Dryer in garage till I can run a new gas line), cleaned up and orginised stuff, even made room in the garage so her car is in, and I have room to work on the other side. Last night I re-built the bed, so I stop tripping over the under-bed drawers and un-cludered the bedroom, filed bunch of stuff in the office, finished the ceiling in the kitchen, and build 4 of the 5 shelves in the pantry. Plus picked up materials for shelves in the garage as well as the other downstairs store-room/pantry.

Soon as those projects are done, I will have the garage finnaly cleaned out :bounce: :bounce:

Planed on bring the Scout over and uloading it into the garage, but that didn't happen yet, soon as the shelves are done (tuesday??), and I have the old shop mostly cleared out (and the engine shed moved  ), I will have some time to work on the truck.... course this weekend the wife flys out to N.D. to visit her sister... and I take a sledge hammer to the upstair bathroom :D :D

Ohhhhhhhhhhh....I am sooooooo up to some sledgehammering! Or at least watching and supervising:D

Let me know when you are ready for the MUSCLES to help with the engine shed.

Don't forget there is a club meeting thingy on Thursday....you to Hooper...ehehehehehehehe:flipoff2:

As for me I too worked on the garage! Exterior romex wiring for the shoplights...very code!

Still waiting for my second set of 4.56's to show up:mad: growing impatient by the day...ready to swipe some marking compound damn it.

Getting ready to swap some HYBRID gears into a Dana20 TC.... fawking hairbrained scheme...BUUUUwwwwaaahahahaha.

Hmmm.. got up early on Saturday, went out in the bitter cold, and took my rifle for a walk.

Around 3pm the clouds cleared, wind stopped, and there were Muleys everywhere.

Now there's one in my garage. :D

A little 3x3 (http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery/album30)

First day out, and the deer tag's filled. Went back out Sunday, but no Elk yet.

As for the Scouts.. I started Tigger. :D Drove around to the side of the shop, turned on the OBA, and used my nibbler to cut two holes in the shop wall to finish the conduit installation for power and such.

Aired up the tires on Little Devil, but didn't drag it off the trailer yet.

Cleaned up my shed some more - added a shelf n' such, it looks empty now with more stuff in it than I had before. :D

Gutted the PPO's insulation job on the wife's 800 hardtop.. found a mouse, several generations of dead spiders, and discovered where all the bird seed had gone to...

Moved her Scout a little bit, but it's back in the garage. Did go for a *short* ride in the topless Scout. Brrrr.

Tonight I'll get some pulleys and rope, and maybe we'll get around to carrying the hardtop inside and hoisting it up and puttin' the top back on.

Terribly hardcore, isn't it?

Shop preparation will be taking a backseat for a few days.. gotta skin, cut, n' grind first. Then get back to putting electric in my shop.

Nice shootin Tom. I was helping some buddies near Longmont, CO and they both scored on mulies. 4x5 and 4x4.

As for hard core tech........ I finished up one of the many loose ends on my rig. Something I'm sure no one has ever installed on their scout.

Dual battery setup for the winch. :flipoff2:

but now I need more amps out of my alt. On the quest for cheep (free) smaller pulley.

I actually worked on the Scout. :flipoff2:

Torched off all the shock mounts and spring and shackle mounts. Found out I'm gonna have to narrow the gas tank skid plate to fit the new mounts under the frame. Oh well, it was gettin a new fuel cell anyway.

Started setting up the new TruTrac and R&P. Pinion seemed to be a piece of cake. Carrier, however was a different matter. It turned out to be nowhere near the original open unit. I've had that darn thang in and out a half dozen times and it still ain't right. IH shop service manual ain't worth a shit either (special tool this and special jig that).:flipoff2: It also says put bearing retainer caps back on as marked. There ain't no friggin marks. Now what?:flipoff2:

I'm off to try it again.

EDIT: Well, after a re-read, I noticed that you never did say what axle you were working on. Assuming you're talking about D44s, then read on. If you're working on 60's or other then disregard my post as the rablings of an ASSumer...

Take another look. All D44s have marked bearing caps. One will have letter standing upright and the housing will have the same letter standing up on the gasket surface on the side that bearing goes on. The other cap will have a letter stamped in it laying on it's side. The gasket surface on that side of the housing will have the same letter also laying on it's side.

http://www.mo-4xtoys.com/torc/bcaps.jpg

The letters are usually stamped on the "top" side of the caps and directly across from their corresponding letter on the gasket surface. Now go back out there and do it right :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I have had my 63 scout 80 for a while now. Its been on the back burner for quite a while. Its been a great lil' truck and its time that it saw real trail duty. The 31's and dual powerlok's can only get me so far. I'm hoping to take the money from red and turn around and dump it all back into the 63. i've reached the end of the line with red and its time for a new project. I smell full coils....:D

Wasted a week of working on the Scout to go hunting in 80+ mph winds. Ah, well, I got 20 years out of that tent, I can't complain.

By the way, if anyone in Idaho finds my tent or my Cummins Ram, please send it back to me.

Oh, yeah, scratched my head at the bastard T19 again...

Thanks TORC.

Yeah, it's a D44 and I wasn't gonna button it up till I got it right.:flipoff2:

The only diff I've ever set up before were Furd 9"s. Piece of cake compared to these damn Danas.

I wasn't looking on the gasket surface when I expected it to be inside. I steel wooled the the surface with WD40 and damn if I didn't find a couple of Zs.

Saturday had Guard Drill and that night had our Halloween party..got shitfaced. I make a mean Jungle Juice.

Sun had the second part of Guard Drill and survived the almighty hangover.

Monday was my "Weekend". Got the garage cleanded and got the Travelall in for rust repair work b4 paint.

Had my Scout's right rear brakes come apart. Had to hammer/weld some parts back in shape and do the rear brakes.

Did the timing in both vehicles and started cutting/welding on the T-all.

Also saw a nice pic on the BBB of a 72 T-all with 38's...having thoughts of selling my Scout for $ for my 72-Tall....hmmmmmm

All be damn I guess I am good for something:flipoff2:

That'll shock my wife!

Finally got the Scout rolling and headed up to Gilmer Texas for the 2nd annual Texas IH Roundup the weekend of the 25th I think. Found out that my extreme reverse shackle wasn't so extreme. I tore up my tires a bit with all the rubbing so figured a change was in order. So...

I spent this last weekend tearing out my old reverse shackle and fabbing up a new one. I took ideas from various places, J. Weeds site, this one and the BB and drew up a plan in Cad. I printed it out 1:1 and cut some 3/16 plate using the pattern.

Here are some pictures:

Before...
http://www.jpeater.com/techspec/images/suspension/reverseshackle/reverseshackle002.jpg

After...
http://www.jpeater.com/techspec/images/suspension/reverseshackle/reverseshackle026.JPG

It flexes a lot better now, zero rub, rides smoother and actually looks a little better, but then those last two just might be the placebo affect. I also did a write up at my site http://www.jpeater.com/techspec/reverseshackle.htm
