I am planning on putting my springs under the frame of my full size chevy. I am going to use 62" chevy springs. I have bobbed the frame right behind where the stock shackle hanger is and put on a flat bed. Myy question is what should the rear shackle angle be. I am going to use a shackle that is about six inches long. On the picture which would be better. A,B, or C. Thaks a lot for the help. Sorry about hte size of the pic. Im in a hurry

A
45 degree angle seems to be the best. Now that should be 45 degree with weight on it.

45 degrees is what you should aim for, as he said with weight on it. I set up my front a little too steep the first tiem and the shackle stuck against the frame as soon as I started to let the clutch out, or turn the wheels.

45 degrees us biased to droop travel, it also causes a too soft (for me at least) ride. Remember that on compression the shackle can go about 75 degrees before you risk it locking up against the frame, on droop it can go about 30* forward. So for the shackle to be in the middle of the travel it needs to be at about 25* at static height

Sorry to but in on your post, but would a shackle angle of 55degrees w/weight on it be too much? even if you can prevent it from bottoming out. ie. its located at the end of the frame so it could potentially rotate 180 degrees up.
thanks,
bob

Do you all think that the shackle sticking that far out past the frame in letter would cause a problem with departure angles and things like that.

mine looks like C and it sucks, it goes against the frame on compression. I'm gonna redo it more like A..

so it sounds like "A" is the way to go.
