alas the time has come to finally take my rig out of the shop and see what it will do after almost 4 years to the day since the rebuild started. only problem is now that i have moved to northern virginia i have no idea where to go. any suggestions in the northern virginia / DC / maryland area. i would prefer it be a place where i dont have to worry about cops or pissed off land owners. oh yeah, i also need for there to be a place to park my tow rig without having to worry about it be gone when i return.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

mike

Kinda sorry to hear you spent 4 years building you Jeep and then had to move here. The whole area is getting real tight. I think the closest really legal place is the George Washington National Forest but it's at least 2 hours away. There is a great place in Winchester but it's only open for the Big Dogs runs, I think 3 per year. It's really starting to suck around here.:(

trails range from ild to wild... stock vechicles to requirements like 35's, 2 lockers, and cable....you can NOT leave there sayin you didnt wheel as hard as you wanted to.

XJ Hunter, you ever wheel there or did you just ride biatch?? :flipoff2:

Big Dogs is about the best you'll find in the area. But you can run down to Tellico for some fun. Check with local clubs.

Here's a pic from the Big Dogs Spring Fling. That's me dropping off of a ledge. From this angle, you can't guage the slope of this trail or the size of this rock:

But here's a pic of the guide (can't remember his name) rolling on the same drop off:

looks like goin down 6 pucker...the side he rolls on is the steep one, goin up or down. i beleive goin down pucker is a 6 or 6a ride, where as goin up is 7a or 7b.

I don't think it's Pucker. If I recall correctly, the entire group did pucker w/o incident. Pucker has a creek perpendicular to the trail at the bottom of the hill, right?

This particular ledge is about 10 yards downhill from a 90 deg. right turn. The elevation is relatively high on this trail.

BTW, it was Eric, and yes, he's a good guy. The whole group had fun that day.

nothing was there yet, but there is a huge open muddy area with some bulldozers and such. Basiclly this is what I saw when I first entered there were 2 turnoffs 2 the right which looked like trash dumps I dident really go down em. Then You come to a place were you can go straight up this huge muddy bank which we dident do cause we were in my friends pussy s-10. Then you could go right and that dead ended not even a quarter mile away. Then to the left was pretty cool, alot of puddles and mud, then you end up in the huge construction area that was pretty fun to.

If you want to go mud'n in MD try these guys:Maryland Creepers (http://65.108.234.239/phpBB/index.php) Its not a club just a bunch of guys get together and go mud'n in legal and not so legal spots. I went with them today on a fun trail in Crofton, MD. I have a descent trail near Andrews AFB. That should be a little closer for you. Let me know if you are intrested.
