I thought all engines were sluggish with edelbrocks on them :flipoff2: If its too dead to crank, charge up the battery, or put in a good battery. Jumping won't do you any good if your batteries toast, most jumper cables are worthless. I'd chill on dumping gas down the carb too. There are a lot of auto 101 basics for you to cover, but start with a good battery.

if it does it with a good battery and you know the grounds are good and the power wire to the starter is all rosy ect...
then you may have the dist 180 out. or the wrong firing order. or the wrong starter / bell / flywheel combo or or or or or or

If you have been cranking for awhile pulle the plugs and crank by hand. If it is real hard to crank still you may have washed down the cylinders and valves. If this is the case, fire wd-40 into each cylinder and rotate again and lube them babies back up. I just got done doing the SAME thing to my motor this weekend.
