I just wandered over to the Ford section to pick your brains a bit. My buddy has a 95 F250 with the 302 or 351, I am not sure. He is having an occasional drivability issue with it. On acceleration, he thinks always at 30mph, it just does not want to accelerate anymore. He says it just goes flat power wise, he steps on the gas and it does roar as though the throttle blades are opening but there is no increase in power or accel, almost as though the cat is plugged, but then on it's own it will be fine util the next time. He had in the shop many times and they replaced many things like the MAP and so forth (I wish I could tell you all they replaced). I am thinking it is something electrical like a sensor (?? throttle position?) or something in the computer as opposed to being a mechanical malfunction. He says it sounds like a 4bbl when he floors it so I think the throttles are opening but there is no power or not getting the additional fuel flow. Do any of you Ford guys have any ideas? If you need more info I can get it for you. He is out of ideas and so is the dealer...no codes from the comp, just an occasional fluke that goes away until the next time. Thanks for any help you can provide. John

Fuel filter and complete tune up. If that hasnt been done then I wouldnt go looking for bad parts just yet;)

I think that has all been done, as I said this is my buddies truck and I will have to check with him again to see what was done. I know alot was done I just can't remember exactly what was or wasn't. Thanks!

Again, this vehicle is in a good state of tune, it has low mileage (under 50,000), and has been at the dealer for this problem repeatedly. It only acts like this occasionally so it is not an issue of needing a "tune up" as it otherwise runs fine. Any other suggestions? Thanks everyone for any help that you can provide. John

Next I would check for any codes that it may be spitting out.
To clear the adaptive memory of the computer, unplug the battery and turn the lights on. Leave it this way for 30 mins and all codes will be cleared. Then re-check the code reader.
If this is just happening every once in a while it is probaly computer related rather than a bad part. I would find someone other than a Ford mech. These engines are 7 years out of production and all their mech are trained on newer Triton motors. I would not take a vehicle to my local Ford dealer under ANY circumstances. My .02

I see lot's of Fords with similar drivability complaints with contaminated MAF sensors. If you remove the sensor you make see fuzz on the fine wires of the sensor. Brett

Good point....try using a bottle of carb cleaner or even WD40 and clean that little wire in the middle of the MAF sensor. If it dirty, it will tell the computer to put in less gas. Best of all, its free and easy so its worth a try!:flipoff2:
good luck

Thanks guys on the advice with the MAF sensor. In my original post I did say the MAP was changed, it could have been a MAF as I do not know for sure what Fords run. I have to find out what things were changed/checked and I will get back toy you all. Thanks. John

OK, this is the info he gave me. I know it is full of details......
Runs ok till 30 mph and then holds there will not accelerate at all just holds there as I press on the gas, had the map sensor changed, had them do the decarbonization to it, gave it a tune up also, rotor cap and plugs etc...
So, what else should I have him look into? Again, no codes come up and it does not always act this way. Thanks for any help. John

what the fuel pressure reading? does it have an e4od? may be neutralizing the trans with throttle tip in....can he can creep it up to like 45-50 and get it to lock in to od then push the throttle a bit more ?
