If I were to swap my rear 35 with a 44. Would I need to change the yoke or can I just have the end replaced on the driveshaft, to accommodate the smaller u joint. That is, if the u-joints are a different size. Are they?

after the SYE youll need a new driveshaft anyway. :flipoff2:

You can use a conversion U-joint.

Depends...Whats the Dana 44 out of? If it's an XJ 44 swapping into a YJ/TJ/XJ, the ujoint will be the same - a 1310, and your drivehshaft should work.

The SYE's already done. I havent decided on what 44 to get yet. I just want to know how far I can go option wise in picking the right one. If the Yoke can be interchanged. That should allow me to go with pretty much any 44 I find. Right?? Thanks for the input so far guys. Keep it coming.

The damn yoke is the least of your worries. Just get which axle suits you and either buy a conversion/bastard joint or just get a differnet yoke.

right, just dont get the ZJ axle not all parts are interchangable, other than that a 44 is a 44
