I'm going to the wrecking yard later this week to try and find a 4 spd to replace my crappy AOD in my 84 Bronco/302/NP208. I think I am most interested in a T19, but wouldn't mind getting a T18 or an NP 435. Can anybody give me any clues as to how to ID the different trannies and how I will know if they are Ford units? Thanx for the help.

T-19's are normaly backed by a diesel. t-18's usualy are behind a gasser. most if not all have hydrolic clutches.

My 89' has the T-18, backed by a 13-56 T-case. I love it.

Something about that 6.32:1 first gear, and the 2.68:1 low range.. I love the factory 59:1 crawl ratio too :D

For a T19, 83-87 F250HD and 350's with a 460 or diesel, NO other engines got them. The 4x4 460 one is the desired one, with the 6.32:1 first gear, the diesel 4x4 and all the 2wd ones have the super crappy 4.02:1 first gear. Look for a completley cast iron transmisison, with dual PTO takeoffs.

For a 435 or T18, you'll want a 77 or newer unit that had a married transfer case, the 435 has an aluminum top cover, the T18 is all cast iron, like the T19, but, only has a single PTO takeoff.
If you want a hydraulic clutch setup, look for an 83 or 84 with a 351W(300 and 302 still got linkage) or an 85-up with a 300,302 or 351(91 was the last year that the 4 speeds were offered.)
For the flywheel, any 82 and later 302 will be a viable donor.
Good Luck

Thanks for all the help. My 84 Bronco has an NP208, and I think I read that all the Ford xfer cases (except the EB D20) had a 31-spline input shaft and the same 6-bolt pattern, is that true? If so, I won't have to swap cases, just the trannies.

Yep. All the fullsize Ford cases have the same pattern.
