I am kind stuck on where to mount bump stops on the front axle..i have no room whatsoever to weld or mount anything to the axle with out it being in the way....so i was thinking...if i got a big enough chunk of rubber and drill out a hole big enough for the shaft of the coil over and then hose clamp it around the shaft of it then use that as a bump stop...would this hurt the shock...with it being rubber i am not seeing how it would...but would like a 2nd opinion..anyone try this?

Ive adjusted my coilovers to fuly compress the spring before the shock so teh spring itself acts as a bump stop, but I am also adding a stop to the frame that the mount for teh arm will hit before the spring

What about having the bumpstop make contact with a control arm? NICE rig!

i had thought about that...but the arm dose not come close to being inline with the frame untill you get to the motor mount area...so i would need a funky lookin bracket comin off the frame to meet up with the link...

Looks like there is some room outside of the control arm mounts and then you may not need as funky of a bracket coming our for the frame end of the bumpstop.

no, some shocks have what you are describing for bump stops. (most motorcycles)

I have done this for my Sammy, took out the rubber bushings from some old Rancho shock eye tops, split them vertically and clamped them to my new shocks around the stems. you can add/subtract multiples for less/more "progressive" contact.

has worked great for me for years, but it may not be the way to go on big heavy vehicles, or ones that jump at speed....

i dont plan on jumping it... but with the way i drive..it just might happen...i think i am goin to try it...and if it screws up something...then i guess ill go back to the drawing board...

and the motor question...yes i am runnin a 4.3 out of a 92 s-10 blazer..when i drop the motor and tranny in..i have about 3/4 of a inch on both sides...and front to back it rubs as it goes in...so it is a tight fit
