I believe it was dynatracs deal and Superior brought it to SEMA for them. I'm sure you could get it from either Superior or Dynatrac. I don't know if they are actually available yet.

Now you have a spindle issue............

Got Cone hubs & spindles??????? I know camo does.....

You could always run 40 spline inners and 35 spline outers. If you got some of those CTM 300m 35 spline stubs....I would think they would be more than beefy enough:)

The 40 spline Superior inners and stubs are available now for the 60 as I was told by the guy at the booth. I spent many minutes fondling and caressing the 40 spline display piece :D . I, for some reason, didn't even see the 40 spline detroit though and that I am trully saddened by:(

I already started designing my new spindles and hubs for the front 60:cool:

I seem to remember Sandy Cone came first...as well as Henry's and Chrisman's back with the cast magnesium Dana 60's (REAL bling bling) in the Mickey Thompson stadium trucks (for none other than Jon Nelson)...but I digress. Camo brought it to the slow speed masses.

Back to the info: Prototype Detroit's have been out for awhile. Production units in a couple of weeks according to Tractech. NO - we do not have 40 spline stubs nor inner shafts ready to ship. We were not even supplied real spline data until the day the SEMA show started. We will have 40's available shortly, however. Yes PIG is correct - it is not a "bolt-in" upgrade. I beleive the unit was concieved prior to chro-mo 35 spline shafts being readily available - and I think the chro-mo 35 spline is a more reasonable upgrade than 40 spline for most.

Just a not from the driveline guy- If you go 40 spline axles -you may want to run a 35 spline pinion spline - 1.250 29 is not a huge pinion spline- Its not just upgrading one thing- Jess :D

Well one of your booth jockies was slackin then:p He said they were ready for ordering right now... Maybe he just meant I could order them but it would be a while till they shipped...

Maybe it was me???

Did you read my signature? ;)

I'll try and get an accurate date for shipping.

If you keep 35 spline stubs then it doesn't sound so complicated.....new inner seals and the 40 spline locker. Am I missing something?

Is this 2-3 weeks? or 8-10 weeks? The reason I ask is I'm 2-3 weeks away from going to 40 spline in my 60 and not to excited about a spool. I would be one happy camper to get a 40 spline Detroit.

Two weeks...but don't quote me. I'll check with Tractech in the am. Whose axles? You gotta be careful and match spline pressure angles.

The bolt-in comment was reffering to the spindle issue raised by PIG - rear applications as well as front. Benefits of 40 fronts would be minimized by 35 outers. 40 spline rears won't fit through most spindles - so not an easy upgrade for someone with a built housing. Just trying to put some reality in the new bling - it's cool and can be the strongest D60 set-up - but it must be planned from the get go.

How bout a 40 spline Semi-Float rear? I assume that it's no problem?

Does the Detroit fit in a stock D60 center section casting? Meaning - did they take a Detroit and machine the bearing journal down on the ID to fit a 40 spline unit, or do these require a different sized bearing? GM made the mistake of doing this with their crappy 10 bolt 30 spline rear axle. I know they are lame, but making a point.:flipoff2: They machined down the ID of the stock 28 spline casting, making the journal thickness much thinner. What typically happens with this axle - even before the shaft breaks, they break the bearing journal right off the carrier. Could this be the case with the 40 Spline Detroit? I wondered what Camo had ARB do for his. Camo - pipe up!:D

Will anyone be machining a 40 spline stub shaft , drive flange and spindle?

This opens up a whole new arena for strength. Now - the big question. What material will this axle be made of and will it be any stronger than the CTM 300M 35 spline axle?

Good point. Trach tech did make a completely new case for this locker. It will be running a totally different bearing. Some O.D. with a bigger I.D. I did not get the bearing P/N when i was at SEMA, but thats what i was told and when i saw the unit at the Superior booth it was evident.

After running this through my Enigma decoder...I think your asking where am I gonna get a flanged 40 spline axle? Dutchman or Moser:D Moser will gun drill the shafts for an extra Benny.
