: Actual centerline to bottom diff dimensions?
wheelinjp 12-16-2001, 11:37 AM I just clearanced my cab and chassis 14bolt and I wanted to see how I now fair against a stock d60. I would also like the dimensions for future reference.I took a total of 1in. off the 14bolt, which measures to 6.25 from center to bottom of the housing now. What is a d60, d44, so on? Any link to a chart would be great as well. Thanks
Jettech 12-16-2001, 11:58 AM I measured 6.25 on my RC 60 turned up 18 degrees (un shaved):D
BillaVista 12-16-2001, 12:54 PM Rough measurements (+/- .25")
Rear D44 regular rotation - 5.5"
Front D30 Reverse rotation - 5"
Sixgun 12-16-2001, 12:59 PM Hmm Sean it looks like your sitten pretty good, did you leave enough to seal the diff?? :D hey did you ever track down that runaway wheel stud??
wheelinjp 12-16-2001, 01:59 PM Havent found it yet Rick. That was an axle stud, and I think the clearance of a d60 is good for a 14bolt with 30min of clearanceing. It has its first of two coats of paint and will be assembled. I got those 4.56s for it yesterday and will be running those for now. It will be installed next weekend Im out in the garage.

were you able to use the bottom two bolt holes for the diff cover?
Thanks
Ian-
wheelinjp 12-16-2001, 04:06 PM Yes I even saved the center bottom one. I cut the lip off from the back side angling down towards the center with a sawzall. I cut a line just over 3/4in from the old bottom and where it ended up was more than an inch from the bottom flush with the gear bulge. Then I cleaned it up with the grinder for about another 1/4in. and rounded and smoothed all the leftover bottom lip on the sides. I think I removed enough to increase the clearance for me. I will be running 38.5 sxs anyway. I was planning on leaving it stock. Almost all the trails here in Washingtn are easily done in a rig with 33s for the most part so I will be just fine.
66CJdean 12-16-2001, 05:45 PM Just having the smooth bottom is worth it. That damm lip on 14's and 60's catches everything! When are going to put up the pics?
wheelinjp 12-16-2001, 06:22 PM I am still waiting for my free digital camera from the digital camera ferry. I will take some pics and get them developed but it will be a little while.I did get it very smooth. That was the whole idea in the way I did it.
Does anyone know of a website that has the centerline dimensions? I swear I saw them somewhere on the web, but I tried all the resources I could think of, including the search.
Charly 12-16-2001, 06:32 PM I was just flipping through some old mags last night, and distinctly remember the standard cut 60 was listed at 6" and the stock 14 Bolt was 6.5".

Wow I dont get that. That 1in. of metal didnt look 1/2in thick. I measured my new distance after 1in. of clearance to be 6.25in. Oh well thanks for the info. Maybe it was a mag. I saw it in and not on the web.
Tankota 12-17-2001, 03:32 PM so when are you coming over to clearance my dana 60?:D

Ill come over and take care of that for ya anytime you want to drop those new tires off and loan them to me for a year or two. It is very easy Dave so anytime you want to borrow the big grinder and the sawzall let me know.Hey did Don ask you to forward that letter a while ago? Cause I e-mailed him and never got a response.
Tankota 12-17-2001, 05:02 PM Do you mean the letter (e-mail) about the use of his tire groover?
If yes, I sent it to you when I got the e-mail.
I really can't start any projects (or finish them either) right now:( cause of the house.
I will definitely be clearancing the 60 before it goes into the cruiser.
