: Anybody running Chero leafs on a YJ??
RoCkSkuLLz 12-16-2001, 05:43 PM I just picked up some stock cherokee leafs from my friends house. He gave them to me free. I noticed the centerpin is like 5-6 inches offset. Has anyone swapped these in the back or front of a YJ to extend the wheelbase? I know there longer by about 5 or so inches but I was hoping to find someone on here that has done this...
Thanks :D
RoCkSkuLLz 12-16-2001, 09:01 PM come on someone has done this :D
Po' riggity 12-16-2001, 10:42 PM They werent given to you, you stole em.. IDIOT :) Ive never done it :) Sorry LOL :) See ya in the am on ICQ
Scott
RoCkSkuLLz 12-17-2001, 07:12 AM ok well maybe they werent exactly given to me. I kind of told him I was taking them :flipoff2: and he didnt respond. I dont think he cared considering they were laying in the junk pile along with my 14-bolt. :D
Monkeyboy 12-17-2001, 10:34 AM I'm putting XJ spring packs on all 4 corners of my CJ.
I used an extra pair of XJ springs I ad laying around to fortify the
Brand new prings with a home built half military wrap style rear.
And an extra main leaf up front.
I can tell you they flex damn good from the time Nailhead and I missed the trailer when we were pushing my heep up onto it.
The heep ramped the trailer just fine and then tried to climb up into the back of the truck without lifting a tire off the ground.
Do a shackle reversal up front Put the big eye of the springs forward on both the front and rear.
The Xj springs are setup for Spring over Application so they should help with the spring wrap a little.
I redrilles the rear springs to place lengthen the wheelbas a little more. I also used the shackle reversal to push the front axle forward a bit. Well I moved it enough far forward that I had to relocate the steering box forward 5 inches.
mfg4rox 12-17-2001, 09:10 PM Rockbuggy, do yourself a favor and ditch the leafs :D . Quit making things hard on yourself!
Po' riggity 12-18-2001, 01:52 AM ditch the leafs Alex? I think you are a little confused...... :flipoff2: SOOOO did you go back up to the deerlick car wash after you dropped me off on Sunday?? Wouldnt surprise me! :flipoff2:

wheelinjp 12-18-2001, 05:30 PM I will do you a favor and stay on topic. I am preparing to run front waggys f/r on my yj and they will seem to work pretty nice. I talked to some people running them and they all stated good reports. I have been told to definitely run an antiwrap bar in the rear of course. The leaves should be a total of 2in longer and they should be 22.5 center of eye to center of pin and 24.5 center of eye to center of pin. So it should offset your axle 2in. one way since the 22.5 is the same distance as a yj spring. They will give you 2.5 to 3 in lift over a stock flat yj spring. I am assuming you are refering to the front springs only since the rears would ruin your approach angle because they are so long.Hope I am correct on all the info If not Im sure someone will correct me, and good luck:D

Well, while us leaf spring people have problems with GRAMMAR, you coil wimps have this problem with spelling! Hey Alo,
Taken any bypasses lately? Don't make me get started... because you know I will, OPEN DIFF KING...
:D
Scott
mfg4rox 12-18-2001, 06:50 PM From what I hear about you scott, your problem isn't with starting, its with finnishing:D . It must be genetic. Do us all a favor and don't breed. We don't need you pissing in the mighty gene pool of this country!:usa:
Po' riggity 12-18-2001, 07:34 PM Trust me, If I have it my way, I won't be breeding, don't need it... I hate kids.. need jeep money... so anyway... you never answered my question.... take any bypasses lately? Oh thats right.. we don't wheel, we go to big bear for the night, just so we can go home at 7 am the next morning :flipoff2:
Scott :grinpimp:
mfg4rox 12-18-2001, 07:53 PM Well I dont know about you, but I went to wheel. I think you however, came along just be with the guys if you know what I mean:rainbow: . Its ok though, I mean, with a mom like yours, how could you not turn out gay?
mfg4rox 12-18-2001, 07:57 PM Ok, now we have really gone off topic. We should probably set the trashings aside for a few and let this be.
Po' riggity 12-18-2001, 08:18 PM Gay??? Me??? Im not the one who's motto is, "real jeeps are clean" :flipoff2: Go wash the jeep or something... And did you really think you were gonna get the last word in? :D

mfg4rox 12-18-2001, 09:30 PM No scott, I didn't wash my TJ, it does no good in the winter with your tires out of the fenders. 5 mins, down the road and the jeep is dirty again this time of year. With that in mind, you may want to tell daddy not to wash it while its down at the ol' shop.:flipoff2:
Po' riggity 12-19-2001, 01:12 AM So, since I don't know what its like to have my tires sticking outside the fenders, I guess I'll just shut up now:rolleyes:... But you and I both know you like your jeep clean...... And you can't deny that you have the urge to break out the soap and wash it and wax it. Oh, and while were on the subject of getting the jeep worked on, tell me again HOW long it took, and how many people it took to get the rear trackbar on the tj? Oh thats right.... 2 people and a winch. Id say it took 3, but I didnt really help, I kinda just pointed and laughed. :D Im not gonna let this die till you do, and you know it. :flipoff2:

mfg4rox 12-19-2001, 04:46 PM Well scott, your right, it took me a while to put on that damn thing. And your right again, when ever there is jeep work to be done, you are of no help. Even if its working on your own piece. But, I was the only one wrenching on the ol TJ rear trac bar, and in the end I got it on without daddy's help. But yes a winch made things much easier. Thanks again to tony.
RoCkSkuLLz 12-20-2001, 07:17 AM Well im glad my POST has been a "vent-hole" for some of us. :D I Basically got shit for valid responses on the "Actual Topic" But none the less I've enjoyed the thrashings that have been occuring here. We should talk to Camo about getting a shit talking board started. :D :D :D

Thats bullsh1t man I f#%^&n posted on topic and now you are gonna pull this crap. See if I post on this anymo......
I hear ya man I did try to help though. Which were the springs you had? The front or rear? Or both?I think they are a great way to go
RoCkSkuLLz 12-20-2001, 03:05 PM Thanks Wheelinjp. I appreciate you honest response. I could have sworn there was a few other guys on here that either had this on there rig or were planning it. Im pretty sure im going to do it just need to do some rear fender mods (sawzal) :D before I can move that axle back 5 or so inches. Im also waiting for a fuel cell for the inside of my tub. :D Probably end up doing this stuff sometime in January or early Feb. I'll post some pics when im done..
rockhog 12-21-2001, 10:53 AM I used to run rear xj springs on the back of my 7. They worked
killer! I ran them with the short side(22.5) in front to keep the
wheelbase stock. Then I just relocated the rear hanger for proper
shackle angle. I used the 1.5 rancho's with SOA.
Monkeyboy 12-21-2001, 10:58 AM I guess since I own a CJ and I didn't stray away from the topic my earlier reply was discounted:D

Hey Hog, I plan on running mine with the short side towards the rear. That way I gain 5" or so of wheelbase :D Plus im hoping they'll help the axle wrap. I figure they should work good, My daily driver cherokee never gets axle wrap :D
