I just bought a 93 wrangler YJ.It is completely stock! It has a stock 4 cylinder engine. I want to get it ready for some beginning off-roading.I was thinking about putting a complete 4 inch procomp lift and some 33/12.50.Is the jeep geared low enough already to handle this change? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One of my friends has this exact same setup and he complains all the time about the power situation. No matter what you really do your going to always be lacking in the power sitch running a 4 banger... Just go for it :D

i dated a girl with a similar setup. She just wound it out and shifted at around 3500+. She has 33s on 10" rims and it still goes ok. As for the pro comp lift i run it on my 93 yj. If you put a heavy bumper at each end, the jeep will ride smoother.
Go for if man

Use a Rubicon Express 2.5" or 4" kit , the ProComp kit will blow out your back.
I have 2.5 RE kit with 31" BFG KOs rides great , could have gone 32s .

I have the same jeep. It will work ok but put in some 4.88's and you will like it.

If you havent gone wheeling before?

Start small, learn incrementally. get some rocker protection, tow hooks, sway bar disconnects and ditch the rear swaybar if you got it.

At most add a winch... learn to wheel then figure out what you want to do with it, then upgrade.

IMO Pro Comp sells nothing but crap in suspension lifts.

Im running a pro comp lift, with cut fenders and 35's, and while with lockers at both ends a 4.56s, I get anywhere I need to.. for now, My flex aint all that fantastic, and it does ride rough. Id spend a bit more money and get a better kit like the RE extreme duty. and.. As far as regearing your stock axles, don't waste your time.. they arent worth a crap... heck, I did it, and Ive regretted spending the money ever since I went from 32's to 35's, and Ive had to bring extra shafts with me on every wheelin trip... course.. rockbuggy knows, I forgot mine last time, and I still beat the D35 like ti "wasnt mine". If you are really set on wheelin this rig, Id stay basic, get the stuff you need as far as recovery gear, then start saving for some real axles... oh well.. if you really want to be somewhat capable, I'll ahve a D30/35 combo with 4.56's and a detroit rear lockright front, for sale, hopefully really soon.. it would suit you perfect with a 4 banger and 33 's :D
