Iam moving my rear axle back on my 71 CJ5 and i plan on putting some yj flares on when iam done, i do now want to move it back so far where they will not fit in the YJ flares, i want the YJ flares to cover the front of the wheel well and i will only cut out the wheel well to fit the flares. I don not have a set right now, and i plan on putting the axle under it this week.

Thanks Todd

TJ flares are more common to put on a CJ than YJ flares. The TJ flares go all the way to the rear most corner of the vehicle, only stopping about an inch or two short of it. The YJ flares stop about 4-5" short of the rear corner. If you cut your fenders to fit the TJ flares you will have a lot more room than you would with the YJ's.

YJ flares are the same as the CJ ones. they do not give anymore of an opening. if you were to use TJ flares you could prolly move the axle back around 3" or so. i wouldnt waste your time using YJ flares on the rear. possibly on the front cause you have to do some modification to the front to use the TJ ones up there. however if you are attempting to move the axle back then you obviously have enough knowledge to alter TJ flares for the front :flipoff2:
