: what everybody get done over thew weekend
harkinoff 11-17-2003, 09:59 AM Daniel finally came through with his wheels for me, he through in an extra wheel for the delay. his work seems to be quality, one wheel took 9 oz to get it some what balanced, not bad for 38's I guess. I can still drive it down the freeway without it bouncing to bad.. the hydro-assist seems to be working very well... the only things that I have left on the list is getting the 205 twin sticked and getting 32 spline front output installed, then getting drivelines finished.. also found a lady that will make me a soft top for 250.00, windows and all..
61scout80 11-17-2003, 10:04 AM Wow, that truck is sweet....except for the flaps...laws suck....
i din't get much accomplished, being drunk and all....
tsm1mt 11-17-2003, 10:12 AM I skipped a wheelin' trip on Saturday.. but I have a wall wired in my shop, and even more important, it's "hot".. a buddy and I stood out in the biting cold wind yesterday and ran the wire from the shop to the house and wired up the main breakers n' such.
Oh, I did wrench on the Scout - tightened up what was a leaky vent line on the 33gal tank. :D
Still haven't fixed my wife's driver's window yet, either..
Old Scout 11-17-2003, 10:15 AM I started to prep for paint. Doing the bare mettal to zinc chromate primer to bed liner grade polyurethane.
scrout 11-17-2003, 10:18 AM Nice scout,
Did you do the fender cutouts?
Also, is the $250 for the top a special favor
or will she take orders?

cut them with a sawzall and grinder, the top deal, is a friend of a friend thing, I'll talk to her about making other tops, I 'll have to leave her my scout for awhile so she can sew to fit. so I don't think she will be up for a bunch of orders
Gen. Nonsense 11-17-2003, 10:34 AM I actually got this stuff done earlier in the week.

Yup doing it myself. I have some extra hot catalyst that will give me dry to touch in 20 minutes with an hour pot life. I bought a HVLP gun and will be shooting L.R. Arles blue and a white top. Here is the paint I'm using. :

If the box tubing is strong enough to hold up to the weight of your scout sliding across large rocks, it looks like a great idea. However if the tube gives too much and bends inward it looks like it will push the inner insert into the cab.
The good thing about the inserts is they will spring back into position after a hard hit unlike that steel tube.

Actually, that is to take weight downward. The old lexan inserts were pretty flimsy, and a heavy person, standing on the insert *step* often cracked the inserts. The new fiberglass is much beefier, so that is less of a concern. But, putting the bar in there is cheap insurance....

What Hoop said. My plan is to have some more "armor" fabbed up that will come off the sliders and add some protection to the inserts and function as a "step" for the little ones and wife.
Real Blackdog 11-17-2003, 07:59 PM Worked on the Scout II D-44's into my 67 800 project. I have the rear axle almost done. The 16X8 Rock Crawlers arrived Friday. Im going with 305-75X16's. Will have to get the engine running some day. ;)

Mechanos 11-17-2003, 09:26 PM Welded in the drivers side floor pan, finished off the drivers side quarter panel patch, ground down about 10 linear feet of weld seam, sanded and prepped the tailgate and drivers quarter panel for paint.
HarleyM 11-18-2003, 08:09 PM Hauled the wifes junk out of the shop to a storage unit so now I can get the scout in to work on it.
