Has anyone ever done this for the holidays? I know its a temp holiday position, but they never tell you if its fulltime or part time. I know that their regular positions are always part time, but I'm not sure if this one would be. Any idea? Any info on the job? :roxy:

I thought drivers were full time, but you can't just sign on and become a driver...

When I worked for UPS I remember that jobs like that weren't just handed out. There was a line to be a delivery assistant, and that line was long.

This is just a drivers helper postion. Basically you are the drivers bitch to help them with the extra holiday load of packages. You help them unload at the location, deliver and such. I remember when I worked in the mall the drivers would always have *help* during the holidays and thats what this job is...I just don't really know the details of it except it pays $11.76 an hour. :roxy:

You might try looking around on here (http://www.upsjobs.com/cgi-bin/parse-file?TEMPLATE=/htdocs/index.html) if you haven't already done so.

I have a chick friend who does it during the holidays.

Basically, whenever you can, you are on the truck helping with the deliveries. The driver gets to sit in the truck while you run all the errands...or at least thats how it appears..lol

Yup....checked that out, but they just don't tell you if its full time or part time. :roxy:

It is most likely part time, as 75-80% of the people who work there are only part time. The exception is Maintenance, Managment, Delivery Drivers, and OTR Drivers

I know all their regular employee's are part time, but they wouldn't have to pay any benefits on someone that was fulltime temp and I think thats why they keep everyone part time. :roxy:

Yes it is part time.
Yes I have done this.

Yes I used to be a full time manager at UPS ( dumb mistake for leaving)

Basically you show up ( truck is already loaded )
YOu get in truck with driver and you ride with him all day until he is done. Somedays it will be 10hrs some 3 hrs.
Depends on the load.
Also the will hire you, but you may not get to go out everyday, only real way to unensure you get to is show up early and stay late, becasue sometimes they will have a 2nd run go out late.
