Heres another dilema I have.

Yesterday I noticed that my oil gauge wasn't working, so I looked under my dash and noticed that what appeared to be a loose ground wire coming from the oil gauge. So the electrical genius that I'am, grounded it to what appeared to be another grounded wire and notice a little spark.

Now my tachometer, fuel, battery and temp gauges aren't working!!! Only the speedometer is working.

At first I thought I shorted the fuse, so I changed that but it still doesn't work. I know the fuse works cause it lights up when I use the fuse tester.

Any suggestions?

I already have a list of things to repair on her, I don't need anymore.

My wife is already starting to roll her eyes to the back of her head.

Are you sure you did not hook up to the hot lead coming into these gauges? My autometer gauges all ground to the mounting bracket and use a hot lead coming in. It sounds like a hot lead problem since the only gauge working is the speedo, and most of the speedo's are mechanical (possibly a bad assumption, but I'll go with it).

Which gauge are you using? More info and I'll try to help, as I've BTDT......

Sounds like you just grounded a loose live wire to the rest of your guages ground. This'll give you the exact effect you just described. Pull the wire again and see if the rest of the guages work. The center post of the guage should be ground. The bottom two should be power and sender. Sended should be marked SND.
