Ok go here.

A SO 60 is not a lot of other things also. How this happen?
Patman 12-17-2001, 12:38 PM Well lets see.....
We were playing around in the obs. course at HH, and I was using all of my 110 hp, with my 140K mile 2f screamin' for it's life. Doing a little donut and I caught an edge and it hit the passanger side and flipped onto the driverside A pillar. So I found myself crawling out the passanger window, unhurt (a little bruised now, hit my shoulder on something) trying to figure out "waaaaaaahhhhappen".
The cruiser is completely toast. The passanger side hingepillar is now occupying the same space as the glovebox, at least I drove it onto the trailer! :D
wngrog 12-17-2001, 01:02 PM I am presently parting out the Blue FJ-60 that was posted on this site a couple of weeks ago.
After seeing what happens when you put this much weight up in the air with a SOA....I am firmly entrenched that FJ-60's are too heavy for spring overs without installing wider axles.
That said....they are cool as shit with spring overs.
All I can think of is if you want to keep the Stock axles you must go to 2" BS wheels and at least 14.50 tires.
Your truck has some wide meats for sure, much wider than the 12.50's on the rig I am taking apart.
Do you have stock springs on yours? The guy I got mine from had OME plus a spring over....way too tall and tippy!
Damn rolling these things REALLY screws them up BIG time!
Sorry to see that, aweful!
GloNDark 12-17-2001, 01:05 PM Whatcha gonna do with them axles? ;)
Bummer man!!
71RCKCRZR RYAN 12-17-2001, 01:12 PM NOW ITS TIME FOR SOME CUTTING AND A LOT OF TUBING .........
Patman 12-17-2001, 01:17 PM I was running stock springs with TPI supershackles (1" lift)
The tires are 35x15.50's, but are on 8's so they didn't widen the stance as much as I had hoped. It would side hill like crazy. But it always felt tippy.
As far as parting it out. I haven't really decided yet. Make me an offer. They are stock 3.70's with a lockright in the rear and AllPro spacers to make them almost equally wide front to rear.
I was surprised at the extent of the damage, but the one guy who saw it, said that between the flop and where it landed, it got 5' of air, I'm thinking more like 2'. The front half took the brunt of the damage, but there is definatley nothing saveable, body wise.
Great reason to wear your seatbelt though. After seeing the rig, I was amazed I wasn't seriously hurt. Espescially considering that I couldn't sit straight up in the driverseat, without hitting my head on it. Being 5'9" and all. I can only assume that the first hit shoved me over towards the middle of the cab. I've got a nice seatbelt bruise and sore shoulder.

Dog House 12-17-2001, 02:34 PM Glad you're alright, but your poor Cruiser....
A moment of silence is in order I think.
Time to go full width and make a cage ala Gunracer - eh?
gunracer1 12-17-2001, 03:04 PM mine looked a lot like that then i fixed it.

Lord Baskerville 12-17-2001, 03:18 PM Man that sucks...
Looks like an ad for cages inside hard tops.
The b and c pillars just aren't enough.

sixty 12-17-2001, 03:46 PM Pat,
Ouch, glad you weren't hurt!! I cant believe such a small rollover could do that much damage. maybe I'll have to start wearing a crash helmet or slow down when I go wheeling. I've been in a couple situations where that could have easily happened lately. were you insured? thats the good thing w/ a 60 series, full coverage is not that much more. collecting might be a different story though!!

Jimyrigdfj 12-17-2001, 04:18 PM that sucks, but I think gunracer has the idea
Patman 12-17-2001, 04:19 PM Insurance was liability only.
As far as the amount of damage.. It's all relative. I've put it on it's side a couple of times and never more than a door or fender. This time it's a completely different story. If you figure I was in 2 low, with 3.70's and 35's and the tach was pegged at the stop, which is a good 4500-5K rpm. It was no where near a slow "trail" flop. And more than one guy said it caught air off the passanger side driprail. While I'm not happy about how it crushed. I never ever felt it was an unsafe rig for trailriding. Now fawkin around on flat piece of dirt after one too many Redbulls. Ahhhh thats a whole other story.
I might tube it. I've got plenty of tube, skills and a bender, but since the cowl/dash is completely smashed. There would be more work than just cutting the top off.
FIXXXXAH 12-17-2001, 07:23 PM I just noticed, that tubing in your cage looks a little slim, what is it? 1 1/4"-1 1/2"?
Matt:)
Blucruz 12-17-2001, 07:56 PM Damn, thak sucks. looks like it was a preaty nice rig too.
GRMhick 12-17-2001, 08:52 PM damn pat I'm stunned. Still wish I had bought your rig when you were selling it, oh well. Good to hear you are alright though.. too bad i don thave an fj-60 (yet?) becaue otherwise I would be all over buying that thing, and swaping all the parts over to a doner 60.. ya know pat, you may just want to do that if ya want to keep a 60.. but otherwise.. i say the fj-45 would be sweet right now :flipoff2: Good to hear ya are alright. Garrett
DCruiser138 12-17-2001, 09:33 PM ---thats a perfect oppurtunity for a "who cares if i bash it" kinda rig!
true it sux...but dude..start bendin some tube and get crazy!:rasta:
FIXXXXAH 12-17-2001, 10:07 PM Im with you on that one dustin.... thats where you build the rig that no one wants to take their rig through a CRAZY trail, and they all turn and go Hey PAT! try this man! and you just fawkin go nuts!:D :D :D :usa:
nuclearlemon 12-18-2001, 08:42 PM should be real easy to wax the roof now.
fj40bill 12-21-2001, 06:02 AM Have a friend who's looking for a rust free (dent free in this case) tailgate. Please drop him a line at captjim@bellsouth.net if you end up parting the truck out.
Thanks
