anyone running the $750 Holley 2D kit? i know there used to be alot of issues with them..... but ive heard from an un-reliable source that the programming issues have been worked out and they dont have the stumbling issues as they did back when first released. i need confirmation on this. someone give their unbiased (or biased) opinion before i click "buy it now". :)

BTW, it will be going on a mild built 351W.

Save your money, they're junk! Do a search here on the board.......heated debate:eek: Call the guys at Howell, they use mostly GM parts and you can scrounge up some of the parts on your own and get the wiring harness and chip from them, save a bunch of money that way. Sure, it's pricier than the Holley system but, alot better. My truck ran alot better once I stuck the Pro-Jection system back in the box it came in!

i have a 2 di setup with the optinal closed loop kit works great easy install they are best on motors in the 250 hp range the only prob is replacement parts are some what difficult to get if you are in a hurry {mine has a ford inline fuel pump now for that reason } they are easy to program and tune some basic knowledge of fuel injection will make life alot easier in the tuning dept

i spent about 3 hours researching this subject on here the other night, and it seems there are 2 camps-

1- hate it, junk, throw it away, send it back, cant be tuned, carb is better than this POS

2- works great, you need to tune it, get the O2 option and it will work better, only a complete idiot would have trouble with it because its not "drop in/bolt on" and needs someone who can read to tune it

out of the 200 posts ive read on it so far, i have seen 101 posts saying that if you put in the effort on the tune, it will work. the other 99 say its junk. i think im gonna try it. :D

I got the 2D unit used, and after several weeks of tweaking it runs great. If you have the patience to work out the bugs its worth it. but $700 is steep, unless its new in the box. You can pick up a used unit for under $500.

Here (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=2057543#post2057543) is the trouble i had setting mine up, but with all the help from members of two different boards, IT SCREAMS!!!:D

Ok, I'll admit the system wasn't all bad. The only real problem I had was a hot start problem. It would flood whenever I would try to start a warm motor. You had to slightly tap the throttle before cranking it and that would send it into a high idle for several seconds and that to me, was unacceptable (it was a pretty wild ride when you had to start in gear:eek: ) I went through all the tuning procedures described in that link trying to fix this problem and it's a wonder I have any hair left. The acceleration was brisk and smooth compared to my Edelbrock, gas mileage was good and off camber, no comparision but, like I said, the hot start thing bugged the crap out of me so, off it came. Hey, it's got to be perfect or what's the point!

A member of another board sent me the instruction video which covered installation and tuning. I recived the video AFTER i got the Jeep running so i used it as reference.

If you follow the tuning advice of those that posted in my link you'll have the system up and running in no time.

I have the video available to those that would like to have it.
