I was thinking maybe a RV or boat place would have them.... or maybe the local truck stop........ you can ALWAYS find good stuff at the truck stop;)

If you run the 120V string It's gona pop a fuse, it will look like a short to the 12V system. Without the proper voltage your will never reach the burn threshold of the bulb.

Some light strings are made from taking a number of low voltage lights and running them together in series. If you take 120V and devided it by 6volts you get 20 lights. Now if you have the time to rewire the string into sets of two lights at 6 volts each in series, you can run them on 12V.

Note to light bearers....make sure you don't have many red ones near the front of your rig. Mr. CHP didn't like how people pulled over on the freeway when I was behind them last year:flipoff2:

Got my 12v strands at ace hardware after Christmas last year for like $2.00 a strand. Male cigarette plug on on end and female on the other so you can string them together :)

The inverters are not cheap My 500 watt Whistler cost $189. I didn't pay anything though because it was a gift to me but it works well for other things too. TV, Blender, you know camping neccessities.

I can't remember what the wattage of my inverter is, but I got one at Target for about $50 on sale. They have a bunch of different sizes there. I picked mine up so I would have a way to recharge my digital camera and video camera batteries on weekend trips.

Kragen, sells a 700 watt inverter(made by Vector) for $89, I bought one on sale for $69 about a year and half ago.
Harbor Frieght also sells them for cheap.
The truck stops will bend you over, before you get out the door with one of theirs.

Friend of mine letting me use a 600 watt inverter. How many lights can I run? Check wattage on lights ? Is it listed on package? Will 600 watts be enough? Thanks.:smokin: :smokin:
